    what do you mean

On their sell-by-date (yellow stickers/whoopsies) and I normally buy at 75%-90% off. I've had great bargains this year and all fruit and veg lasts at least a week.
Most bargains are after 7.30pm in my stores.

Sainsbury's organic meat waay better than Tesco. I went organic in March because plain pork loin chops from Tesco on offer had added water, glucose syrup and some sodium something chemical :(

    sodium chloride (salt)?

I am also a fan of organic to avoid pesticides but its just too expensive to buy regularly. I do buy organic milk though as its only around 4% more expensive. I also like raw food - seeds, nuts etc!

I walked around Sainsbury's with my mother last week looking for organic veg. Ocado was cheaper than Sainsbury's for everything except spring onions, and chestnut mushrooms on offer.

I don't view Sainsbury's as expensive, myself. If you are used to shopping in Aldi, Lidl, 99p Stores, Home Bargains, Approved Foods and Poundland only however, then you may well think it is.

Waitrose, ASDA, Budgens and Sainsbury's all price match brands to Tesco, so it does take research on own brands to find the cheapest. However the cheapest isn't necessarily the best quality or VFM. That's why mysupermarket is useful.

It also depends on what you buy. If you don't buy much meat, poultry, fish and veg then you may find ready meals cheaper on offer at Tesco. Tesco always has a huge amount of offers on lunchbox stuff.

We all have preferences and prejudices, faves and dislikes when it comes to supermarkets, brands, own brands and foods. Shopping is subjective.

I always think Sainsbury's and Waitrose are a bit "emporers new clothes".

Being a commoner, I've worked for most of the major retailers to some extent, the upside of this is I've learnt quite a lot about the stuff they sell.

Whilst Sainsbury's fresh quality isn't bad, I'm inclined to say Lidl do produce a lot better, albeit with less choice of range (but then how organic your organic produce actually is is a whole other debate).

As for fresh meat, I'd rate Morrisons above the rest.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

I prefer Sainsbury's to Tesco as the quality is far better on their fresh meats and veg as well as ready meals. Our local Tescos is also very poor at actually putting enough basic goods on the shelves! Sainsburys tend to do vouchers at till or half price deals rather than the "buy one let one rot" that tesco seem to prefer!
I do spread my shopping with Morrison's too as they have fantastic evening reductions in my local store, I haven't paid more than 20p for a loaf of bread or pack of rolls for months now - perfect for packed lunch, massive bag of spuds for 20p as well:D

I tend to agree about Morrison's meat. The nearest one is a bit of a journey, so I only go there when I have to be in that particular town for some other reason but when I do call in, for all it looks like someone has designed the store by sticking a hand grenade in a pile of boxes (and a worryingly high number of the customers look like they've escaped from a care home - but that may the town in question!) I stock-up on their meat. It is definitely better than Tesco's (which tends to be vile)!

That said, for decent meat you really can't beat a good, local butcher.

I think sainsbury is pretty fair value.

tesco are the worst by a mile... most expensive of the big boys by a substantial margin. miserable/grumpy/ignorant/unhelpful staff and fruit that is oft mouldy and oft even before use by date... I don't often shop there.

Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying

Don't see anything angry there, the OP is simply stating an opinion.

I just checked a shop on mysupermarket that I'm going to do at Sainsbury because I got a couple of free delivery codes (I think they're individual or I'd have shared with you all) and Sainsbury is actually £13 cheaper than Tesco and nearly £6 cheaper than Asda.
