Just me who finds Sainsburys very expensive?

Sainsburys is on the pricey side, I feel. But you'd have to have pretty poor arithmetic to believe Tesco and ASDA are any cheaper: they're not. If you compare an identical basket of groceries, there's only pennies difference between the big three.
The only supermarkets that sell decent quality products at significantly cheaper prices are Aldi and Lidl. I find Lidl particularly good, with the caveat that you can't always get everything you need there because their stores tend to be a bit smaller than those of the big three.
Waitrose is in a different league in terms of product quality and choice but I can't shop there without being tempted to blow the budget. Still, it's great for special occasions."There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. As a Sainsburys employee, I find our stuff very expensive. I've got 6 weeks of vouchers from Mr T - first week its £5 off £25 and rest is £4 off £20. I will be using these.
One thing that annoys me, colleagues and customers is that prices don't go down. For example, earlier this year all of the supermarkets' value custard powder increased from 6p to 15p overnight. We still have them at 15p whilst the others have put them back to 6p. Its all made by the same supplier as my mum has packets of value custard from S, T and A and they have the same ingredients and NVs.
There is an Aldi in the same town as where I work and obviously customers recognise me and make cheeky comments saying 'what are you doing here?' I say 'likewise' and say 'At work these are £1.50 and 39p here'
Some colleagues are cheeky enough to pop into Farmfoods at their lunchbreak and buy things like milk, bread and frozen items and pop them into the back chillers and freezers.
I do that with the Nicky loo roll. Store manager looked at my FF bags with disgust the last time I bought some - 18 rolls for £4 and at work the normal loo rolls are £3.99 (£3.58 with discount) for 9. No brainer.
We cannot be stopped buying from elsewhere.0 -
If you buy brands (or Taste the Difference, or even own brand), it possibly is (I don't drive and Sainsbury's is within walking distance, so it would cost me more to go to Asda and certainly Tesco).
But the Basics range is astonishingly cheap, and not bad at all. Most of my shopping is either Aldi or Sainsbury's Basics. Lidl is probably good but unfortunately not at all convenient for me.Life is mainly froth and bubble

This is a really good point. Even if you do drive, you've got to factor in the cost of getting there, which might well be more than difference in prices between the major supermarkets."There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. Funny this thread should pop up...
I went to do a shop today at a Sainsburys for the first time in AGES, as I knew I'd be passing (normally I do Tesco as it's closest to me), and I wanted to stock up on some store cupboard bits.
At some prices I was impressed (good looking mince for £1.32), and some I was very disappointed (value squash 65p compared to Tesco's 32p).
The particular store I went to was doing a major re-fit, so it was a blimmin' hassle to get parked and the trolley bays were MILES away from where I was parked. That being said, I will be going back once the re-fit is done, but I don't think I'll be making a permanent swap from Tescos.Because it's fun to have money!

Sainsburys is far superior in quality. It's a shame I don't live closer to one. Tesco/Asda are my nearest.0

All depends on what you buy but theres always something on offer I have previously bought and alot of offers they have.0

too many screaming kids in Asda..
Sainsburys is an almost pleasant experience ...They should do away with the guys flogging energy deals in store ..Seems an odd thing.
A pound or so extra is worth it for the peace and quiet0 -
Many more people are not 100% loyal to one supermarket. I go to different ones to stock up on offers that other supermarkets are selling at a more expensive price.
I am one of these people.0 -

I am not being racist. In the nearest Asda to me, we get the Asians buying 200 bottles of SP water. What is that all about?0
