At one point my 6'3" OH weighed 10.5 Stones. He was very ill for 18 months and took about 5 years to recover

Just read the Paella rice box and it says "best before....2008"
If this contains cooked rice I wouldn't risk it. If it is uncooked and dry it is probably alright, but 2008 is 5 years ago.
When it became compulsary to quote dates on food, the max lead time allowed was 3 years, so anything that really doesn't need a BB date got 3 years.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Looking for NP's help please...
When we finally complete the sale of our Bungalow we will be moving into rented property for a time until we find our next home. Now during this period of time I would like to be able to get access to the internet to look through the portals to find a property. I would like to purchase a piece of portable equipment that would allow me total connection to the internet that would give me access to these portals.
Not being a computer person really, I would be grateful for any ideas that you all may have. I am with BT Broadband at the moment and have the Home Hub 3.0 Wireless.:)
PN is the expert on this really. A dongle sounds like the answer which is like a pay-as-you-go mobile phone but supplying data to your computer/laptop. Problem is that the signal problems with dongles are common, so I would be loathe to rely on it as my only internet connection.
I'm assuming you don't have a smartphone that you could tether to provide a mini-wifi hotspot?
Another option is to use your local coffee shop/ library to access the internet but that is limiting.
Any reason why you can't transfer your existing internet set up to the new place, just by notifying them of change of address and getting them to transfer service? I think BT broadband require a few days notice once your phone service is up and running, so there would be a few days without service. Is that bearable?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly. Tonight I am cooking Paella. Been out and bought seafood and chicken to go in it.
Just read the Paella rice box and it says "best before....2008"
As I am posting to ask you your opinions....I have thought ... what if no one replies? What if only , say, Chewy (sorry Chewy - best before dates do not seem like your area of expertise) replies? Realised that at times the NP thread is not the right place for a problem and will repost on "Old Style" where there is bound to be someone who can help.
I'd eat it but I have constitution of an ox and survive on buying supermarket reduced food when we're in the mood
Although lately, we have been paying full price as have been cooking dinner parties.0 -

I've got a degree in bacteria stuff so actually I am the most qualified person to answer your question. Errr.. well apart from the other people with similar degrees and actual work experience...
If the rice has been stored in a cool dry place it will be fine. If it has gotten damp then definitely don't eat it. Rice tends to contain a certain type of bacterial spores and they can 'germinate' if they get moist and produce horrible toxins which are not destroyed in cooking (which is also why you shouldn't eat leftover rice which has been left out at room temperature).0
