This morning we had a visit from SB with a lovely bunch of flowers for Mothers Day and a beautiful card to accompany them. So we all went out for a lovely lunch to a Restaurant with a beautiful views of the Isle of Wight, afterwards a lovely stroll along the cliff tops to work off the food.
Just before SB arrived home by train we received a call from the EA saying that he had a couple interested in a viewing within the hour but that the staff were all out on viewings and would we do the viewing ourselves, my OH loves showing people around the property when given the chance so we ok'd it.
To cut a long story short I excused myself saying that I was going out to meet our daughter off the train and left my OH showing them around. When SB and I got home the couple were just leaving in their car and about thirty minutes later the EA rang to say that the couple were so delighted with the Bungalow that they have made an offer which we are delighted with, so over lunch we discussed it together and decided to accept, it was so nice the SB was included in our days enjoyment so now we are quite excited at the following weeks ahead but fully aware that we will not be counting our chickens before they are hatched.:)
PS The Bungalow has been on the market three weeks today.
Not sure if I should say this but many people offer a bit lower than their top price in the hope of getting a bargain so rather than taking the offer immediately (and given you have had plenty of interest and only 3 weeks on the market) I would suggest to the agent that they see if the buyer can be persuaded to offer a little bit more. More money for you and the buyer still only pays what they were willing to all along?I think....0 -

Yep, I concurrr. Never do that here.
But I am guessing that's not what you and spirit are on about.0 -
Tesco do a whole range of "free from....." stuff from biscuits, bread and cake to yoghurts and milk.
Health food shops are also a good source.
I would make sure that the advice is from a reliable source. There are many dodgy allergy "experts" out there, happily taking your money and providing dubious analysis. To restrict your diet without solid scientific fact would be harmful IMO.
Yep I'll second that. there was a craze for "allergy-based" quackery decades ago and it's still roaming the earth zombie-style. Only 6% of people with "allergies" turn out to be really allergic if blind-tested IIRC.:cool:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

A friend has a child who has now been advised to not be fed wheat and eggs. It has been suggested there are allergies there, so they have to feed their child all sorts of stuff without having either product in it.
Child is aged 3.
The child also quite possibly has a learning difficulty, that is still being investigated. Communication skills are low.
Parents are worried about what food he can have. We had a long discussion about fresh fruit & veg becoming the mainstay of the diet for the little un. I think they are concerned at not being able to give him "treats" (biscuits, chocolate or such like) or snacks. They're also concerned about him feeling isolated amongst other kids having such stuff.
Can people suggest a source where you can buy egg & wheat free products please? And/or suggestions of stuff that is wheat & egg free?
Online ordering can & will be done if required.
Thanks in advance folks!
Ime kids LOVE berries. Love them. Little ones love that they are acceptable finger food.
Also, in summer when ice creams are out if dairy is ok then frozen lollies and frozen yoghurt rather than ice cream. I would look at what they can think of that 's safe but 'normal' because it helps with price and coping in different situations.0 -

When the EA valued the property we had a price in mind as to what we would be happy with, taking also into account what we had payed for the Bungalow four years ago and the monies that we have spent since moving in and this offer exceeds that amount by a good few Ks.
The couple that made the offer have an offer on their property at the moment but have to be out ASAP so they came in we believe with the best bid that they could, but I understand what you are saying, but it is early days yet and as I have said not to count chickens...0 -
Looking for NP's help please...
When we finally complete the sale of our Bungalow we will be moving into rented property for a time until we find our next home. Now during this period of time I would like to be able to get access to the internet to look through the portals to find a property. I would like to purchase a piece of portable equipment that would allow me total connection to the internet that would give me access to these portals.
Not being a computer person really, I would be grateful for any ideas that you all may have. I am with BT Broadband at the moment and have the Home Hub 3.0 Wireless.:)0 -

20 odd years ago my husband was diagnosed with ME. It was at that time something a bit unusual and branded "Yuppy Flu". Treatments and therapies were therefore in the hands of practitioners of more alternative medicine. It was a worry and we parted with £'000's to try to get him fixed. At one point my 6'3" OH weighed 10.5 Stones. He was very ill for 18 months and took about 5 years to recover.
OH was referred to an Australian Quack with consulting rooms in Docklands. At one point he was being treated with intraveneous infusions of magnesium, and his diet restricted in the following week to :
Potatoes
Lamb
That was it.
For every meal, for a week.
This was repeated many times.
No idea if it helped but I can tell you that the smell of lamb pervaded the house and 'seeped' out of his pores.0 -
Tonight I am cooking Paella. Been out and bought seafood and chicken to go in it.
Just read the Paella rice box and it says "best before....2008"
As I am posting to ask you your opinions....I have thought ... what if no one replies? What if only , say, Chewy (sorry Chewy - best before dates do not seem like your area of expertise) replies? Realised that at times the NP thread is not the right place for a problem and will repost on "Old Style" where there is bound to be someone who can help.0 -

I would definitely use it.
I apply the logic of 'pyramids' to food storage. If they can get stuff to grow from pots buried with Old dead Egyptian kings then some rice from this century in the back of a ( cleanish?) food cupboard should be ok.
If its been damp, or not stored sealed I am a little more dubious.or if it had been in a window.
When I next find Korean black rice I will be buying a lifetime supply.:)0 -

I would use it too - as lir said, assuming it has been stored ok. I might not be the best person to give advice though, the vast majority of what I eat is past its sell by or best before date0
