Good luck with the looking......it could take a year so don't be forlorn if if you don't get an offer accepted straight away.
I will put a link up over the W/E when more people are on, then remove it.
Ours is ...
I did view tons of stuff and a lot of repos too.....but this one kept drawing me back.
I'm quite ok about it - it would have been a big job (bigger than I would have been able to tackle comfortably, but I would have coped somehow).
I know what you mean about drawing you back - the two I have been to see, I just had a feeling about from the photos, and then really liked when inside. I should probably be less fussy about the ones I go to see, but I'm not in too much of a hurry (so long as I don't have to look for another place to live/ there isn't a house price BOOOOOM)0 -

This was the dream one but out of budget. Nice quiet bay too.
Mind you, I have to hang out more here as we are back onto a severe MSE fest.
Currently doing the kitchen cupboard challenge.
Still loads to do in our house (various boring delays due to the crud foundations under part of it, re-routing a gas pipe bla bla bla) and we will ice the back one as now there are no savings left to do it (as we aren't getting a mortgage for Margate).
It was a difficult decsion but feels like the right one. Could do with a rest from building works anyway...at the moment it is dusty and grim here with the lounge full of bathroom stuff, fitted cupboards to fit and so on, so much more to finish.0 -
nice to have fc back! i am full of dumplings and wine and conversation0

I guess it depends on the area you are in whether prices will creep up or not.
According to Zoopla (which I know is just a bit of software) Margate prices have risen about 9% over the past year and I know there was cheaper stuff about 2 or 3 years ago.
Our own area has definately risen due to 2 house sales near us. I was bowled over at what my new neighbours have paid...and he's an architect and going to re-build the entire thing from what I understand.
I figured that if we didn't do it now, then even a rise of 5% would have made it too difficult.
Obviously we don't have a brass farthing to do anything to it for a year (apart from some impt exterior repairs) but a clean out will make it useable for us.
Then I will make it swishy for arty weekenders wanting a retro mini breakand realise my dream of a small semi-passive income.

I have worked hard at my procrastination (with the hard things I don't like doing) and it is finally paying off
Evenings have been either no internet or chatting to OH about all the stuff going on.
BTW I loved that quote that Gen put up about 'the more I practise the luckier I become'.0 -

Hello fc, congratulations on the 'pension fund' property. I admire your energy to update your own home and take on a renovation as well.
the property you linked to was fabulous but the thing that got me was the set up of the bedrooms - each to contain a family..I could nt describe it as 'house a family'. It is pitiful.0 -
um...it's due to snow tomorrow but i was going to plant out broad beans and peas....do i chance it?0

Yes, it was very misty this morning, and it's really wet and gloomy now. Visibility is around 2 miles.
Coming out of the tube at CW you have a bridge with the DLR crossing in front of you about 100 yards away and the canary wharf tower about 50 yards to your right.
I could barely see the DLR and everything above the 20th story of the tower was completely obscured. I quite liked it.
I didn't like the 'orrible drizzle that then set in for the entire day, but at least it has warmed up.0 -

It's all misty this morning, with "'orrible drizzle", as you put it. Very unattractive weather. There's a crane about half a mile away, and I can see that, but that's about the limit. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
This morning, I woke up with a heart attack, sat up in bed, and gave two enormous burps, which stopped the heart attack. So, there you have it: burping is a great cure for heart attacks and hypochondria, one or the other. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
