PN is the expert on this really. A dongle sounds like the answer which is like a pay-as-you-go mobile phone but supplying data to your computer/laptop. Problem is that the signal problems with dongles are common, so I would be loathe to rely on it as my only internet connection.

I'm assuming you don't have a smartphone that you could tether to provide a mini-wifi hotspot?

Another option is to use your local coffee shop/ library to access the internet but that is limiting.

Any reason why you can't transfer your existing internet set up to the new place, just by notifying them of change of address and getting them to transfer service? I think BT broadband require a few days notice once your phone service is up and running, so there would be a few days without service. Is that bearable?

Yes I think that signal problems could be an issue and I would have to check that point out.

The mobile that I use is a Sony Ericsson and not in that league I'm afraid.:(

Your idea of the Library Internet would I think work for me the best then both myself and OH could keep our emails up to date as well as house hunting.

Would BT mind connecting the service to the rented property for a short time then re-connect to the property that we purchased. As I said before I am not really into these new devices at all, they scare me a little but I would have a try if the need arose.

Thank you for the good tips silvercar.:)

Presuming something half way that makes his BMi under 18 I imagine...about 16?

6' 1.5" and 9.5 st gives a BMI of around 18. He has a complex about being underweight and tries to bulk up. Has protein drinks and does weights but still can't gain weight. Eats really unhealthy stuff too, like fizzy drinks and take aways.

Don't see why not, it is keeping business.

Regular consumption of 10 pints of lager and a burger has been proven in clinical trials to cause weight gain - I personally recommend it.

20 odd years ago my husband was diagnosed with ME. It was at that time something a bit unusual and branded "Yuppy Flu". Treatments and therapies were therefore in the hands of practitioners of more alternative medicine. It was a worry and we parted with £'000's to try to get him fixed. At one point my 6'3" OH weighed 10.5 Stones. He was very ill for 18 months and took about 5 years to recover.

OH was referred to an Australian Quack with consulting rooms in Docklands. At one point he was being treated with intraveneous infusions of magnesium, and his diet restricted in the following week to :

    Potatoes
    Lamb

    That was it.
For every meal, for a week.

    This was repeated many times.
No idea if it helped but I can tell you that the smell of lamb pervaded the house and 'seeped' out of his pores.

And was there also advice to avoid anything that's been in contact with fungus/yeasts eg bread and certain food additives?
    I would definitely use it.

I apply the logic of 'pyramids' to food storage. If they can get stuff to grow from pots buried with Old dead Egyptian kings then some rice from this century in the back of a ( cleanish?) food cupboard should be ok.

If its been damp, or not stored sealed I am a little more dubious.or if it had been in a window.

When I next find Korean black rice I will be buying a lifetime supply.:)
I would too, assuming it hasn't been damp.

My view is that it's too much house on too little a plot. Four storeys aren't really practical for a family, there isn't enough outdoor space or enough parking for the number of rooms.

Well, I rang up the agents for the 4 storey house in Margate, and apparently the sale has completed, and it's on the market to rent at £850/month. That's a yield of 8.5%, which is not too shabby.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Be careful of trying to do this. I tried it the other week. Generally libraries aren't open very handy times, parking close by can be a problem too, or limited. Then you have to have the right card for the library - and then you'll have to book in advance. Once you've actually found the library is open and you've parked and managed to book a slot and sat down .... you'll find the PC deathly slow and people being behind you very "creepy" and there's usually an oddball lurking.

Another "rule" I encountered was that you can only have a half hour slot, or a one hour slot (different libraries/different rules). And you can only have 2-3 hours/month. Beyond that you pay....

Overall, it was a super-sh1te experience. I tried 5 different libraries (requiring 3 different cards). Not pleasant... not pleasant at all....

Just for checking emails though - should be OK.
