I have always gone for convertibles when at all possible. There are loads of reasonably family friendly, reasonably nippy, four-seater convertibles around. What's wrong with a mini convertible, say? (Apart from the price.)

I don't like convertibles. Too many hair issues. Scarves worn like grace Kelly never seem to work. Two sweaters yes, but air conditioning not convertible for me.

Haha! Absolutely nothing, except I fell in love with the new roadster.

We did sit in the back of the convertible on Saturday. H complained that he was all hunched up (you may realise that if he says that, then it must be small) until I got in and lifted the head rests from mid-back to behind-head height. It was actually quite comfy at that point :)

Two hours and thirty five minutes to catch up on this thread. I should be working!

I think that the TMI is that we now know you are the kind of man who reads the "best before date" whilst in the throws of passion.

Feeling very sorry for Mrs Micheals.

Had finished my previous stash and failed to buy any more but had come accross these when clearing out a draw a few weeks back, hadn't checked the age but did know I'd had them a while. And if it is 'fess up time I didn't check the date till throwing away the wrapper afterwards...it seemed to work ok :o

I love that Lauren Hill album! Have been thinking of it recently as well! I think mine is in the inlaws garage.
I have the mp3 on my phone so drop me your email addy and I can send it you. (I would say just download it from my server but the server PC at home is still broken, fixing it was one of my weekend 'to do' tasks that didn't happen :( )

I'm confused by the 2006....were you being very MSE and got a good deal on bulk buy?

Ah, may be you don't know, I got married in 2004 and had DD1 that year and DD2 in 2006 so both less condom use was needed and of course being married with kids the opportunities were also sharply reduced :(
    I think....

I can't be doing with convertibles, either it is too cold and you get sore ears and a headache or it is too hot and you get frazzled by the sun...or both on some occasions. We hired one for 2 weeks in Florida once, spent the first week cramped with the top up and the AC on and then swapped for something much bigger and more comfortable.

I'm looking at a house, the only sensible way to extend seems to be to bring one section (2 story) forward 3m from the house (above the existing garage. The neighbouring property has come forward 2m at first floor level and 3m at ground floor level - what do you think are the odds the planners would be up for 3m at double storey?
    I think....

It was jus over a hundred miles each way.....so not 200 miles first, but a hundred either side. In a car that found fifty a push :o. I was at uni and had a job, then a personal responsibility changed forcing the commute till the end of that academic year at which point I made it so the disparate areas were closer geographically.

That's still probably 4 hours driving a day, on top of everything else, so I'm not surprised you were tired.

Oh, and I don't have the hair issues you mentioned in relation to convertibles. Sadly. :)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I haven't really had the opportunity to try. I had a Z4 as a courtesy car for a day in winter once. H had a convertible Beetle in the days before me so he was mentioning cold and noise the other day.

It's window shopping really. Next September is the earliest I could consider an impractical car but I'm still test driving one in a couple of weeks. I've already had two free cokes, a doughnut and a cappuccino :o

I'm not having the best luck with planners at the moment! On considering this, they do like extensions to be subservient to the main house. I can only presume that the neighbour's first floor has the "shallow" projection because of this ;). You could always drop the roof height on the extension instead - keep the eaves height the same? Is this the detached house or a better money making one?

HM planning inspector finally came out to ours on Friday afternoon. Do you think it's okay to check the planning portal every hour for the next three weeks?

I'll try and sort you out today but it may not be until this evening for lack of data reasons.

Yes this is the detache housed, have put in an offer 20k below the 650k asking price but with 17 viewers on Saturday 3 days after the property came on rightmove and our house not even on the market and bridging 630k being beyond me I am not hopeful.

The ony way the property really makes sense to me is with this front extension as well. The neighbour coming forward does at least move the 'streetline' forward a bit and of course the garage already comes forward by the required amount, currently the roof is very large and steeply piched and for soem reason gabled at both ends - perhaps if it was suggested that it was reduced in height and hipped at both ends (one end will be a new side extension) they would take mreo kindly to the forward extension. I really dislike the 'chalet' style of bringing the roof down and putting the first floor in to the eves with dormers. I reckon 630k plus a 150k spend if they allowed us the volume would make a 850k (possibly ++) house.

A lot of me says the 40k moving costs would pay for a swimming pool in the back garden of our current house (I know pools dont add value but it would be great for the kids)

Edit to add: Is there somethign wrong with your internet connection that you will only be checking every 60 minutes?
    I think....

Tall, steep, gabled roof = loft conversion perhaps?

Edit: you know i want a rightmove link now? ;)
