I was purely in an 'a crap joke will lighten the mood' mood. Nothing more than that. It was bad though, even by my standards:o. Beds does = bedfordshire and doctors have a bedside manner so I thought all the good docs must be there.:o:o:o:o:o

DH is watching a James Bond film atm and in between the explosions I hear an occasional tut and "that's not where the autopilot is".

ETA: going back through the posts just saw missk posted re docs and not you. I am such a !!!!. I blame the explosions wrecking my train of thought.

I'll be sure to mention when I go to the Drs and we can all laugh at the joke again :rotfl:
Which reminds me - I really should register with a GP around here. I think I am still registered in Greater London :o

Watching James Bond with your DH sounds like watching a film with vaguely sciencey bits in it with a scientist... lots of tutting!

I don't mind so much any more, I think it was brought into sharp focus by the big change in moving back to my parents (leaving job, London, ex, hopes, dreams, blah blah blah) and turning 30 just over a month later (whilst feeling I had regressed back to where I was pre-Uni). Yes, all that would be nice, but I'm quite happy with my life as it seems to be heading at the moment. Its certainly not where it could have been going (I could easily have kept on trying to make things - job and relationship - work).

Besides, with a bit of luck I'm hoping I might find a nice little house this year so that would be one thing off the list without having to even worry about the others :)

Yep. I think part of growing up for our generation is accepting our mothers and big sisters did not have it all mostly and when they tried they were not happy, often.

Most of us have....unfulfilled 'wants' but.......nevertheless....I think you are far too young and lovely and beautiful to hang up your romantic dreams in a closet and think ' that time has passed'.

Fwiw, pn, I mentioned on another thread dh's step granny died recently. She got married in her late seventies I think, maybe eighties. If you don't want it fine, but it really is never to late.

I am not sure who said "The harder I worked, the luckier I got" but I do believe whilst it is not the only factor, it is within our own control, and significant efort has a part to play in success.

Whether that is at work, in building friendships & networks, in sport or in art.

Look at the consistent regular participation in the NP thread.

    I gave in to temptation.

Is there NP naughty step I can send myself to?

Hmm - Spirit you were not the first nice person to post on the tall stories thread so in this case I think we can forgive you...although of course if you are just looking for someone to tell you that you have been bad and punish you then....
    I think....

Right, bag packed for tomorrow. Swimming costume (oh dear), hair deep treatment stuff (might as well utilise the power of steam, I'll look dreadful enough after wards) and just remembered in typing this to
Pack styling stuff for hair afterwards.

We will sit in hot water and be warm.

I couldn't go through the stress etc of trying to work out what's going on ... and unikely to meet anybody who didn't find me weird/annoying :)

Nonsense! I know for definite that you met a whole heap of people in the summer who think you are great (well, you 'met' them a while ago, but that just means they have thought you are great for longer :)).

I'm not 'speshul' as such, but I still find it difficult to work out what's going on. And I'm equally challenging to figure out what on earth is going on with me :rotfl: Don't think you have a monopoly on it!

Scientist by background, airline techie by career. Very dangerous combo for film watching. Debunks everything. Generally Disney films are quite safe, but can't think of many others and he won't do chick flicks.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I don't think by any means it's all luck. But luck helps and can make all the difference between ok and 'very nice thanks' or ok and 'disaster' when it's bad luck.

After all, your company fails, you get hit by a , or you have health issues not to do with lifestyle.....not a reflexion of how hard you work

I think those social things are things we all suffer a degree of....most people can sympathise witha degree of that fear and discomfiture.
