I think a lot of successful people just haven't got unlucky yet, just as it is possible to flip 10 heads in a row, with enough people some are bound to have got all their calls right. Whereas Mr G shows how despite doing all the research something outside 3 standard deviations can happen...but then he also demonstrates how hard work and perseverance can allow one to make ones own luck....

PN do you get the 'tall stories' / BS / bigging oneself up thread? I just don't get the whole concept of making up stories and lying, I wonder if you are the same?
I've missed something. "Mr G"? - are you watching Bill Gates on the Dimbelby programme?

Scientist by background, airline techie by career. Very dangerous combo for film watching. Debunks everything. Generally Disney films are quite safe, but can't think of many others and he won't do chick flicks.

Have you told him James Bond is not a documentary?

Some years ago at the Opera in Verona I could not suspend disbelief to accept that the two ladies built like large wardrobes were actually a beautiful slave girl and a princess. Ruined it for me :(

Hmm. Are you doubting our friendship is real? That people like me are not interested because we are different? I find that a little sad, when some of us care for you so much.

This time has been small scale networking and friendship building.....
I meant IRL. IRL I'd never meet any of you ..... our circles wouldn't meet.

I can't lie, I go a funny colour, stutter and am blindingly obvious :)
I'd also never remember who I told what to.

There is an ad on tv( I think that's where I heard it) that one in five relationships start online. That's incredible. Friendships are no different I guess now.

Was it good? I saw him on Sky News this morning and he was excellent. It almost made me want to go out and buy a new copy of Microsoft Office. But not quite.

Perhaps I am flogging this luck thing a bit too much, but...sometimes we want to believe there is a design/intent behind something, and prefer that version of events to the rather more boring chance version.

I was thinking about this just now over the washing-up - that is pretty much what I decided on.

It is nice when you feel like luck is on your side though. I love it when e.g. you get to a traffic light and it seems like it has changed just for you :)

Am I the only blood thirty np watching utopia?

I am less bothered about the story but totally captivated by the comic style visuals. The scens in the chapel tonit were amazing. How the stones were picked out in subtle shades of colour.
