You know I'm single/female too ... I've made it this far without too much mishap. :)

OK I admit I never recall you longing for a soul mate, rather more prosaic needs; privacy, a reliable internet connection and a trip to IKEA.

On this wish list you could be DD's twin except except at this point in her life wild horses would not drag her in to IKEA again.

    That's amazing!

Did you tell him what a rare creature he is? Perhaps he will tell you where the others hide!

Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

[whispers] viva - I don't get it! All I can think is Beds=Bedfordshire (I've clearly gone a bit mememe this evening!), and I'm sure that isn't what you meant :rotfl:[/whispers]

Well, a major IT supplier has gone into administration today. An initial 300+ jobs have gone. We are a customer so it might take our project down too.

I sit next to a guy who was one of those 300, and he found out by messenger first thing.

It got me thinking. This morning he was walking into work thinking just a normal day. This afternoon he trudged home, knowing he is unlikely to be paid later this week.

It's too easy to post on here from a confident, self assured position (e.g "well, if I can do it, so could anybody else"). Yet circumstances can change so easily, and things no longer seem under your control.

Yep. That's what make me frustrated who do not credit their hard won success in life with a pinch of luck alongside the graft. And understand that gor some on the wrong side of the law of averages get the bad roll of the dice despite hardworking and ability.

Nikkster - as a mum I could worry about my 'single' daughter, however since 'knowing' you I have had my eyes opened to valuing her and her 'status' in her own right. I have conciously moved away from 'hoping' her life would fall into some conventional coupledom. I know she is fine, and that it is not my right to ask intrusive questions.

I see you as a role model. I am learning from you how to treat my own adult child.

I'm not convinced about being a role model for, well, anything! But I can reassure you that it is about a zillion times better being single than being in an inappropriate 'relationship'.

And knowing that you have parents you can fall back on/ live with etc if/ when it is needed is truly wonderful. No matter how stubborn and independent you (by that I mean me, not you!) are/ try to be. All the more so because many people don't have that luxury (for so many reasons).

My cousin's son said that he was going off for an interview with the Foreign Office for some sort of spook job. I saw him a bit later, and he seemed embarrassed that he'd even mentioned the interview and he said that he hadn't got the job.

The only thing is that a couple of months later he upped sticks and went to live abroad (where he's remained). So, did he get the job or didn't he?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    Yes, he did!

What does he say that he is doing abroad? (that is my spy disguise by the way)
