Me too! What a difference a year makes (well 10 months really).

I wish I could snigger, but I just don't find the stories funny like I probable would have done before. All I can think about are the lies that are also being told that hurt people/ cause trouble (my ex had always had a penchant for tall stories, which progressed to lying about where he was/ who he was with, all the way up to more serious things)

Oh sweets.

You know I felt the same. When I was really upset my it I made enquiries And the particular tall tale I was assured by peoplpe in that geographical area was outside the law. That one itself doesn't 'upset me' but taken in context of the whole of the picture and the other areas which could impact on vulnerable people it does.

Hmm.

Now I feel bad I didn't follow through in the summer/autumn with this.

I dated one who was a very proficient liar. The only time I realised was when he stole money from me. Doh! We're better off without Nikks, way better off! We should just be thankful we did not get more invested and didn't end up in deep and with kids.

Yes, it is. It took me a long time to realise that. I still can't believe I let so many suspicions and questions be brushed away. But that didn't mean that it was my responsibility/ fault. And it certainly never crossed my mind what was really going on.
