I have to admit that although the whole thing is tragic it is somehow romantic to have 'Timbuktu' mentioned on the news, somehow it sounds like somewhere magically remote and exotic. Other places the same are Ulan Bator and Manuchu Pinchu. Talking of which lets hope NDG is OK.
I thought Tangier sounded exotic but when I visited it parts of it looked very similar to Spain. The culture was immensely different though. It was hard to believe we were only a few miles from Europe. It had a very weird history around and after WWII but the culture shock was overwhelming; I'm not sure I'd recommend it to a first-time visiter to Morocco.
Tried mint tea in Tangier- everybody drank it everywhere there, but very sweet, and I spend too much time at the dentists as it is.
You must know more about NDG than me - I noticed she stopped posting a couple of threads ago but never knew what happened. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Given 'unlimited money', if I lived in Queensland I'd sink some deep piles into the ground and build a flat bottomed boat style of house, anchored on fat chains to the piles.... so it'd just float and bob about until it came down to rest again. Worst case is having to pick it up on a crane and move it a few feet.
You just need to build it high enough that it will 'never' flood. I'm not sure I'd want to be in a house that wasn't connected to its pilings in a tropical storm.
Mrs Generali's Grandma's dog is only allowed in the house during cyclones and even then only into the laundry. Last year there was a super bad storm so the dog was allowed in the house it was so bad the windows blew in along one side I the house!
The weather doesn't mess about in QLD once it gets going.0 -
In all my years of too many pets I have never managed to get a baby tooth from any of them. I know it's an odd desire, but I have always wanted baby teeth from them.
Last night, as the kiwi lay on his back on my lap grinning I saw that one of his babies, the last in the row, was about to fall out, so I reached in, he is fine with me messing with his teeth, and plucked it. But the spit on it made it too slippy and I dropped it on His tongue from where he immeadiately swallowed it, then grinned. I think it was a relief to him actually to lose that last one he looked more comfortable, so I guess there is not much more gum pain for him soon. He gums have been very sore looking, more noticably than other pups I have had.
G'ah.....I have never been so close to having one of their teeth, no where near, and I dropped it..
His mouth is at that funny stage now where we are used to those little needle teeth and the big ones comeing through are still only just emerging but look massive for his mouth. Like poor dentures.0 -
What breed of dog is the kiwi fruit? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
