In our area we have more problems with these big 4x4s who park on double lines ouside of the bank with hubby sitting at the whell whilst wifey nips into the bank, and the car park is only metres away. Thats life I suppose.

Round here it is the wifey that drives the 4x4 and I doubt hubby would be allowed to drive it!

I should point out that I don't have the 4WD Juke.

Speaking of parking and getting out and about, the library moved a few months ago. . It's still got a carpark right by it, but before it was RIGHT BY it, I could waddle in without a stick and it was all level.

Now it's a big carpark shared with other stuff, there are fewer spaces by the library. There are steps and a ramp further from the library, (I could manage both). I have to admit, all of this puts me off on bad days, because the far spaces might be too far after the morning stuff here, while on good days when I could just skip in merrily I think I am too busy. The thing is, when you get the books out you do not know how you will be on the return day. We have a mobile van very close (and I have considered returning any books there, because while I would struggle with the way in on a bad day, I could probably just call the librarian to the door and smile.

Dh has some time off between offices....I might sugugested the library as an outing.

I like it here because we can moan and be honest and know that the np pretty nearly entirely are a bunch of people with good intentions and hearts.

It's hard sometimes typing because people never know when you type with a smile iyswim.

Btw, what do you mean only live once.....it's getting me through this time that next time I might be a spoiled cat, or a very indestructible cockroach. Hey, maybe that's it, maybe I am part cockroach....:rotfl:

But what is the difference between that car by the bank and a disabled drivers car?

I have more understanding than most non blue badge holders, as, um...well, I should have had one before and as I say I think I am probably headi g that way soon. Being unable to get out and about to places because you just cannot practically do it is as incapacitating as the need for the badge sometimes. But....if the argument is that it's unsafe, it's unsafe for whatever reason?.blue badge or not.

My mum had a blue badge, which they declined to renew last Autumn, so I do have significant understanding and sympathy. I'm pretty sure seke did her best to park.considerably, not least to minimise risk of damage to her previous car!

The road with the banks in our town also has a (largely unused but still in place) taxi rank on there.

I pop in, chuck the light on the top (I always have the plate on the back, as although I can't get out of paying congestion charge, it does let me use the bus lanes in London), pop into the bank, then remove the light when I get out. The car is used as a taxi a maximum of one night every 2-3 weeks.

Cheeky I know, but it works.

An early contender for 'Typo of the Year 2013'!

Mrs Generali has 'persuaded' me that joining Weight Watchers is the way forward in my life. I'm slightly overweight but so slightly that a couple of eyebrows at work went up when I said it.

It turns out I can still drink beer which means a major fear has been eliminated. I think they must have the points wrong for cheese though. I refuse to believe anyone would be sadistic enough to create and sell a diet plan that effectively removes cheese from the dinner table as that would just be wrong.

Lir, can I please suggest that you do two things?

    1) Speak to the library about being registered with them as disabled. The rules on disability vary from county to county and sadly aren't consistent across the country so I don't know what they are there. However it should mean that when you are unable to get to the library you don't pick up fines and don't need to worry about ho you will be on the return journey.

    2) Also ask the library whether under Data Protection and because of your issues, you can nominate another person who can deal with your account in your absence. Under DP we are not supposed to tell one person about another's account. However - again this is how we do it here and it may be different round your way - you can nominate someone or a couple of people, and they can come in and discuss the account on your behalf if you are unable to get in.
