Speaking of parking and getting out and about, the library moved a few months ago. . It's still got a carpark right by it, but before it was RIGHT BY it, I could waddle in without a stick and it was all level.

Dh has some time off between offices....I might sugugested the library as an outing.

Vivatifoso has given you good points to address with the staff of the Library and I am sure that they will only be too willing to help you to feel more comfortable when visiting, every area is slightly different in layouts and regulations, they will put your mind at ease.

    Thanks viva.

I will See how it goes. :)

I am still a bit wary of the library ad the librarian who wants to talk to me also jumps on me as soon as I get in there. She is lovely, and I have thought of asking if she wants to meet for coffee ( if she became a friend I could say...you know, I just want to choose books.....alone. ) but none of it is pressing ATM.

I always renew books online, often because I haven't got round to returning them. There is also a facility to renew by automated phone system.

Really no excuse for the fines I keep getting. Now if someone could invent an App that links your calendar with your library ticket and the online renewals system......

I get books on the kids' library cards as children don't get fines at our local library.

Mrs Generali has 'persuaded' me that joining Weight Watchers is the way forward in my life. I'm slightly overweight but so slightly that a couple of eyebrows at work went up when I said it.

It turns out I can still drink beer which means a major fear has been eliminated. I think they must have the points wrong for cheese though. I refuse to believe anyone would be sadistic enough to create and sell a diet plan that effectively removes cheese from the dinner table as that would just be wrong.

I have been losing weight since 3rd January. I use a (free!) website called myplate, which is just a food diary and calorie tracker. It recommends a daily calorie intake, based on how much weight you want to lose (plus your age, etc.). You enter any exercise you take, and that is added to your daily calorie allowance, which is of course an enormous incentive to take lots of exercise! So far, I have stayed well on target. I am absolutely ruthless about weighing/measuring everything I eat, then writing it down on a slip of paper before entering it into the computer.

I found that the easiest calories to save are the alcohol. Looking back, I was having at least one or two drinks most evenings, and quite frankly I had a minor habit. I have now settled on one double malt every Friday evening, which I really enjoy and savour. The first 3 or 4 days I really noticed that I was not drinking, but now not at all.

If you are counting the calories, you eat what you want, but I quickly discover that some foods are better value than others calories-wise.

Gdb, I am glad it's working. I said at the time I have used similar for ages now....while I rarely lose weight it keeps an accurate record for me, let's me see clearly where I am remiss on my very tight allowances, and at the very worst, what I need to supplement for.

I feel I know 'food' and diet quite well, but these make the whole thing a darn site easier, clearer and simpler.

It's no different to keeping a clear budget.

Infact....do they do as simple budgeting apps? That would be amazing!

So.....now things have got official with the heating people and they want to come in to look at it on a set date. Great, though I sort of hoped they would give up so we could get someone else in now. I sort of want to be out the day they are here too. Never mind.

I'm trying to lose a bit of weight, was chatting to my housemate about it, who's a bit of a health freak. He did some sums and worked out from my weight and body fat % that if I lost 4kg, ~9lb I'd probably have a six pack.

I wanted to be a bit healthier this year so I've decided to see if I can do it :D

Dh is also currently obcessed with a six pack. He is more obcessed with cheese though:D

Dh is fit, healthy, strong. He is slightly overweight, but tbh I prefer that to underweight. Also...he used to be anorexic and while there is no trace of that left I am worried that at times of high stress he might start being silly with food.

I like intermitent dpfasting, and dh does too, but again, I worry a bit about him doing it, but then, he also worries about me so...:D

You already have a 6-pack. It's just a bit hidden at the moment.

One of the things I was recommended is to go to the supermarket and put 4kgs of butter in a basket, and decide whether you want to carry that around with you. :)
