I'm also obsessed with cheese, and beer. And chips! Especially chips.

I mentioned I'm doing a 10k in April so the extra calories I burn doing the training for that (assuming I actually do any training) should help quite a bit. I have a bit of a well-deserved reputation for not being the most exercise-oriented person :o

    Robert Burns 1759 - 1796

Speaking of food tomorrow is a special day for Scots throughout the world, it is none other than Burn's Night celebrated with Haggis, Neeps and Tatties. (Turnips/Potatoes) Served piping hot.

In England many of the Supermarkets such as Tesco stock this product, the one that our family chooses is from Simon Howes Butchers of Perth. Haggis Original the versatile Scottish Dish.

Haggis is a thoroughly democratic dish equally honoured in Castle, Farm and Croft. The ingredients give a touch of romantic barbarism so dear to the Scottish heart.

    The Selkirk Grace
Some hae meat and canna eat,And some wad eat that want it;But we hae meat, and we can eat,And sae let the Lord be thankit.

Last verse of the Address to the Haggis

Ye Pow'rs wha mak mankind your care,
And dish them out their bill o' fare,
Auld Scotland wants nae skinkin ware
    That jaups in luggies;
But, if ye wish her gratefu' prayer,
    Gie her a haggis!

Raise your glasses and toast the Haggis...

There are many courses, speeches and toasts in a Burn's Supper but what an enjoyable evening it is, the last one that I attended with all the toasts that are given I thought that I had died and gone to heaven.

So tomorrow night is the poet's birthday

If you want to follow the proceedure of a full Burns Supper check with this link and enjoy the evening...

    It's a reasonable threat. :)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

If it helps... I like to mash the potaotes with butter and a touch of milk, mash the turnips then I mix everthing together before I begin to enjoy the meal it takes a couple of minutes but gets everything the same consistancy , otherwise you can find that Haggis may be a little dry. Each to their own. Enjoy.:)

Dh wants vegetarian haggis to have. I have never eaten haggis (not keen on lung) but ...when even people who like it talk about the need to get everything to the same consistancy to make it eatable it is a little off putting :o

    Potato and turnips, yum though!

...when you are unable to get to the library you don't pick up fines ...
And LIR should investigate getting an online account with them - then you can just log in and extend the loan.... that'd work if there's no queue for the book and give you another option.
