I don't see the point in people struggling down here to do not much because 'they should'. I have to, so might aswell do it all.
Does that mean that you are mucking out and grooming loads of horses every day?
As well as taking ice out of the trough with your bare hands? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Not exactly. ( and cannot remember when special girl last got properly groomed)
It's not exactly how one pictures it.
I do muck out every day, twice at,. I have horses, it goes with the territory. But....
Hmm. I don't really want to say. Np who have been here will no I am not mucking out stables.0 -
Where I work, the manager stands by the clocking in clock every morning (a clock which is set 2 minutes ahead of real time ...) and paces back and forth to check everybody's there on time. Even the morning conversation with me tends to be restricted to "Looks like .... is going to be late" when it's 4 minutes to the hour
People who think they might be late will email/text him from their bus/whatever...... if I were late I'd not do that, I'd just turn up late.
Pay is only awarded to those who are in on time every day and there every day

Our pay is not docked if we can't get in because of snow, and we're not expected to take annual leave because we don't have annual leave. We are expected to work from home, though - setting work, contacting colleagues who might be covering for us, preparing lessons for when we get back, etc etc.
If we're delayed by the bus or a childcare problem or whatever, nothing dreadful happens - no docking of pay or whatever - but we absolutely have to ring in and say if we're not going to make it in time for a lesson we're supposed to be teaching, so that somebody else can go along and cover.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

And now am worried about tomorrowi have class at 11am (which I can't cancel) and meetings most of the day. I don't mind inclement weather. I mind when everything grinds to a halt.

DH left for Seattle this afternoon and his flight took off ok. Now whether or not he'll get back ok is a totally different question.
I'm very confused by snow. BBC weather on the TV shows that we are going to have snow overnight, whereas the BBC weather website says we won't. None so far. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Smartphone apps. Just downloaded Skype and Viber both of which I've seen namechecked on the thread. Are they any good? Does anybody use both or do you just pick one?PasturesNew wrote: »Yesterday at work I spent the day wearing 3 jumpers, a fleece, a scarf and a hat. Still cold. Hard to type with cold little fingers.
When I walk the dog at night my key won't turn in the frozen lock when I get back and/or my fingers are too cold to get the key to work. :mad:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Zag, I like netweather.tv. In reality there's not a great difference between that and the BBC for weather over the next few days, but I like the fact netweather does two weeks out. Generally I've found it pretty reliable, though of course the further out, the more subject to change. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? My toes have been cold ... couldn't get warm at work (it's under the legal limit all day) ... came home and not been able to get bottom half of my legs and toes warm all evening, even though I've had thick socks on and my legs/feet under two layers of blankets and a pillow all evening. There's a hidden chilly draught from somewhere....
Yesterday at work I spent the day wearing 3 jumpers, a fleece, a scarf and a hat. Still cold. Hard to type with cold little fingers.
That doesn't sound a good environment for someone recovering from flu:(. Can you do what we do when we have trouble with our heating and sneak a fan heater under your desk and switch it on and off intermittently? Or would Scrooge find you out and send you to the workhouse? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
