On one side of main house roof there is snow and on other side there is not. Previously snow has settled on both sides. On 'new' part the kitchen roof is covered completely but the study (different roof line but same 'aspect' is not covered. Roof insulation was the same through out...tiles are different, could that have bearing? What could this mean? I don't get it.
Around here the extent to which the snow is settling on different roof surfaces looks quite variable. I suspect the wind has something to do with it. I can certainly see lots of snow being blown off my garage roof and the roof of the house next door.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Ok, that could be it.
It's not sticking on our east side, but is sticking on the north, south and west sides. I went and looked at the neighbours barns some of which are almost east facing and they have snow (but ate not insulated at all and are full of cows (which make quite a lot of warmth) but also have less incline on the roof, but I will check our dairy building later for its east side.
Edit, d'uh I forgot I have a window over the stairs that faces that way... checked from window.....there is snow on the east facing roof of our dairy.0 -

Just spoken to my dad on the phone. He agrees that his knees and balance are not what they were and promises to be careful ... but is still determined to go out with his shovel and clear the path from the street to his front door. I'm not sure his idea of "being careful" is quite the same as mine.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Gosh he is good! I will get to mine soon. It's at least a very short run! The garden path I am leaving as snow though.....it just seems safer.0 -
Worlds most pathetic school?
DDs school opened at 9 and sent out we are closing texts at 9.45. It was just starting to snow at 9 and continuing to snow at 9.45, exactly as forecast. What was the point in that?!I think....0 -

Snow is good.0 -
Went out at 8am, took stuff to dry cleaners. Ready by 12. Now snowing heavily, not a chance I can collect.
On the homecare front, plumber been and gone; electrician yet to appear.

With reference to the wine tasteing course I may or may not do.....does he know which to recommend?
No, not a clue. He knows nothing about wine other than what tastes good. Having been given loads of wine to taste over the years he now has a better appreciation of what he likes and what is a good wine, but tasting is not his area.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Travel does count under working time regulations so your week should not exceed 48 hours (over a defined period) without signing an opt out. Mr S just tries to limit his travel to weekdays, although this trip took out last Sunday as he left at 7a.m.
During a major event he could work for several weeks without a day off. Last summer I travelled over to him so that it 'forced' a few days with some respite time into his itinery.
He rarely takes time back, if all work travel time/dinners/breakfasts/receptions were counted I suspect he works for minimum wage.
Same here. Now (and this is a bug bear of mine) he often travels abroad on a saturday to justify travelling business class on long journeys. (Fares are cheaper if you are away on a saturday night.)
So lets say he has a 10 hour flight. Leaves home Saturday morning, spends Sunday free time for himself abroad, works in the office all week and takes the Thursday night flight home, arriving mid-day Friday. 4 work days in location + 2 x 10 hour flights + all the time he is away from home. How many days of in lieu?
Another one. if you get up at 4am to get a 2 hour flight and arrive home at midnight, should you get some extra time off. That is more than a normal day.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
