Very pretty here. A good covering and snowing heavily. a few cars have gone down the road but I suspect not for much longer. Daughter has a day off and was doing two horses today - she is contemplating walking the two miles - but it is a mile and a half of up and down - we have doen it when snowed in before and it takes over an hour then 1/4 mile of potholed track. The yard staff have done teh morning feeds but are not turning out, so she is anxious to go.
Mr S has texted me. He is delayed at the !!!!! end of the world - his flight to Moscow has not even taken off to get to !!!!! end due to heavy snow in Moscow - I thought they dealt with this stuff better than we do? It is looking as if he will miss his connection to London.0 -
Oh yeah. There she comes.

Lots of snow here and we do have advice not to travel....school is still open though, so I will have to travel.
Wish me luck!
Good luck Sue. Do let us know how it goes for you. Remember that education may be important, but safety is more important.
The wind is picking up here. I'm not sure whether it's also snowing harder, or if it just looks as though it's snowing harder because the stuff falling out of the sky is being joined by the stuff being blown off the rooftops. I am very glad not to have to try to get DD to school and not looking forward to driving myself to school this afternoon. I suppose I could walk, and if I were healthy and it was really crucial for me to get there then I would, but it's 2.5 miles each way, and I don't fancy doing that in snow with a cold.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

The snow started as I was driving to work.
Wonder how long we'll be able to stay open. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
None for us yet.
First sign of snow settling today, everything but events is closing down, and events will be on a case-by-case basis. I hope they're grateful of the heaters on the lorries, as we have one in Belfast and two in Aberdeen at the moment, on shift 4/4 tonight. We also have a couple over the channel (France and 2 in Belgium), so 6/14 of the big (and heavily in demand) vehicles out of easy reach.
Something tells me that this could get expensive on an overtime front!
I've cancelled a meeting in Cardiff for obvious reason, and will update if I hear anything that may be of interest. All of our music vehicles use AutoCab, so our fleet manager should get it on her system.

Omg......I have only just got in, and only in to thaw....... (took a thaw break earlier too)
I love this weather but forgot my 'snow use' barn had been being used by the nice builder this summer so had to make a sort of Heath Robinson barrier along one side as the primary barn they use is only half useable as the snow is flying into the first half.
I also seem to have a sprained wrist., I noticed it was sore yesterday but this morning it's pretty useless. I know I had a fall where I hurt my ankle recently but I cannot remember if I clocked my wrist then or not.0 -
Snow report: Can confirm it is snowing and settling in Central London so the TV reporters won't have to travel far to get their snow shots. Can't confirm whether there will be any trains running by the time I want to go home - forecast is for 1-2 inches which doesn't sound like enough to stop public transport but...I think....0

Also?..insulation...shouldn't that mean there is more snow on the roof, not less?
On one side of main house roof there is snow and on other side there is not. Previously snow has settled on both sides. On 'new' part the kitchen roof is covered completely but the study (different roof line but same 'aspect' is not covered. Roof insulation was the same through out...tiles are different, could that have bearing? What could this mean? I don't get it.0
