    telephone that works without electricity,
The duraflame (5 hours heat for the fire guaranteed to work from a single match.) is by the fireplace.

The telephone is an excellent idea - we lose power quite frequently. Most of the other stuff we have to hand . We also have lots of tea lights and glass lanterns - pretty and safer than candles along with tilly lamps.

I have a plumber and an electrician booked for tomorrow morning, both courtesy of british gas homecare. What are the chances?

No assault rifles, but we do have two really smart lightsabres that make noises. Ostensibly they are for my nephews but the chance of them. Both getting one when dh has his eye on anakin's one are pretty slim.

Hmm - as a board I think we are a bit lost without our dedicated prepper to advise us how to prepare. I wonder how many assault rifles Viva is bringing back from the states?

Dh has arrived home twenty four bottles of tobasco sauce, a yoga mat, two pairs of clients brand flip flops and half a dozen tshirts....same brand. I asked hi. What we are going to do with them and he is just thrilled it was all free.

    Ah bless him.

That is cute. It mostly needs to go to a fete. The sauce to the tombola. That is the final resting place of a fair number of freebies that come here in OH's luggage.

I think I have said in the past that my husband often receives small gifts from places he works with. We have had quite few books of aeriel photographs of 'facilities' (you have not lived until you have seen photo after photo of shipping containers from the air) , souvenir engraved crystal, Knitted socks in a meaningful Scandanavian pattern, lots of logo's or slogans promoting a place/event - T shirts, ties, towels, belts, Rugby shirts, sailing jackets - some high end brands ruined by being emblazoned with XXXXX City of Light/Prosperity...Gateway to the future/Cement Works .

Best (or worst) of all was a fairly enormous framed print of an aeriel view of a not very attractive former Eastern Bloc town. He cannot offload this stuff on the way to the airport as it would be rude so he had to pay to have it as extra luggage.

The lovely dark rum from the West Indies I claim as my own.

If you ever need to rehome any tobasco... :) I might be able to swap you for something mass produced.

Weather-wise, I'm in Leeds ready for something tomorrow. Have brought extra clothes in case we get stranded. Looks fine so far, bit of snow but roads clear, who knows how tomorrow will turn out though.

We could nearly have had a NP meet as I was supposed to be at a meeting in Leeds tomorrow however I have sent apologies...which is looking like a sound decision. I was due to fly up tomorrow a.m. and back tomorrow night.

Our borough's notoriously rubbish with statementing and we ran out of energy and took the financially insane route of putting him in a small private school that's handinling his problems pretty well. In fact we put him in one then another when the first one was taken over and closed.

We considered ourselves lucky that such a place merely existed.

I admire and envy people like singlesue who have the personal energy to juggle and handle all the effort needed to get her sons treated properly.

I'm still juggling and putting the effort in...had a moan at youngest's parent evening tonight to a school governer. He still is not receiving the support as per his statement, he is still struggling and withdrawing but all the teachers could say was that he was no trouble as he was so quiet! Yeah, he is quiet because he is withdrawing and they should do something when it happens...something mentioned on the blooming statement if they bothered to read it!

He had a meltdown yesterday morning before school, we ended up arriving at school late because of it but because he is not being dispruptive in the class, then apparently he is ok....well if they continue to ignore it, he will become disruptive at the slightest attempt of human contact by a teacher and by then, it will be too late and they will never get his trust back.

Apart from that, he is an across the board C grade student, ok, I have to be pleased with that as he was never supposed to be in main stream high school doing GCSEs but on the other hand, he is far more intelligent than that (the teachers do admit that he is brighter than his grades show but can't quite understand why) and would be doing better in a different, more supportive to his needs, setup.

    Arrggghhhhhh!

On better news, James has been offered an interview at his first choice university.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

That's a posh alert... flying up/back in a day for a meeting. I was once working 400 miles from the office and my boss drove up in the morning for an 11am meeting, then drove back to the office that afternoon ... and when I worked there I was in the office 9-6, then I'd drive the 400 miles and be on site by 9am the next morning, then drive back home, arriving about 2am - keeping hotel stays to a minimum (hotels were cheap n greasy too)

We had so far escaped the snow pretty much but we are copping it a bit tonight and loads is forecast for tomorrow.

I always have candles ready, think it is partly to do with growing up in the 70's and all the power cuts we had back then...I have always had a supply of them to hand, I even take some on holiday as a just in case!

Food wise, I don't have a lot in really as I always do a small shop on a Friday but if push comes to shove, I do have a joint of beef and a turkey I could defrost, plenty of spaghetti, rice and some frozen veg, so we would be ok for a little while.

It's a reality now for many, and not posh, often quicker and sometimes cheaper than driving. Fwiw, there is a blacksmith who covers Kent who commutes in from France. Not posh labour at all.
