They, being lawyers, probably made him sign away his rights. :)

Started to snow here at 8.45, and it's snowing more heavily than before. 6-7 cms so far, I reckon, and a friend has just been on the phone to brag about how good her YakTrax are. As she has Osteoporosis, they are probably a great investment.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Good luck Sue. Do let us know how it goes for you. Remember that education may be important, but safety is more important.

The wind is picking up here. I'm not sure whether it's also snowing harder, or if it just looks as though it's snowing harder because the stuff falling out of the sky is being joined by the stuff being blown off the rooftops. I am very glad not to have to try to get DD to school and not looking forward to driving myself to school this afternoon. I suppose I could walk, and if I were healthy and it was really crucial for me to get there then I would, but it's 2.5 miles each way, and I don't fancy doing that in snow with a cold.

In the end, the main road was fine but it was a bit eek getting to the main road in the first place, the village roads were almost impassable but we got there with no mishaps. I even managed to get my shopping done, go to the garage (one wiper decided it was not going to work today!) and then back home again.

The main band of snow has not hit us yet but is due to in the next couple of hours, I have a feeling the afternoon school run is going to be more 'fun' than the morning one....some primary schools are already closing at lunchtime in the main town but the high schools are staying open. Not the most sensible of ideas really as we have a weather warning, the roads are already bad and they are kicking the kids out in what is supposed to be blizzard conditions (the wind is already quite bad here).

    Oh well, that's life!

Got some good news from my parents though, I filled in dad's attendance allowance form a couple of weeks ago and he got the reply this morning...granted it again, although mum couldn't tell me how long for as she couldn't find it on the form, no different from the last award really, she couldn't find it then either and it was plain as day on the letter!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Well done Sue and good luck for fetching them this afternoon. At least none of us has to get kids to school tomorrow or the next day. :) I am due in work at 1:30 so am going to set off soon and see how it goes. My street is under about 3 or 4 inches, but it's reasonably flat and I'm not far from the end of the street and hoping it will be better once I get onto bigger roads.

Something is up with work's computer system for logging in from home. It was fine first thing this morning, then it locked me out, then the ICT support desk sorted it for me, and now it's locking me out again. Not the best day for it to happen given that lots of staff can't get in, and we have lots of tests and mock exams to mark and need to get onto the system to enter our marks. Never mind. I'll print out a paper copy of the mark grid when I go in this afternoon, and then I can always use that for marking over the weekend and put the marks in the online system on Monday afternoon if necessary.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I have had a mini adventure (well adventure for me anyway).

DD wanted to go to horses so we thought she would drive out and I would drive back. Heavy snow was expected again later so knew it would not make it back if she was there a few hours.

We went a convoluted route but got her to the yard track. I drove back same route to home, got stuck, freed myself and reveresed a long way down back to an A road. Set off and reached the up and down road we live on. Got stuck again and some offroading types who were having a jolly came to my rescue - hill too steep to tow so car was pushed to side of road and I got a lift home on a quad bike. One of my rescuers said smilingly that I looked very smart - in my Tweed Jacket, Joules Fur Trimmed Hat and wellies. It has made me ridiculously happy - their kindness and sense of fun. I think I need to get out more.

DD will walk home - past her little I10.

Mr S is now on a flight to Moscow and it is looking promising for his connection.

Considering clearing snow on path and drive - but snow shovel is in boot of DD's car .

Spirit, it sounds fun indeed, I love the way people get helpful and kind in the snow. :)

That sounds like enormous fun Spirit! Wind is picking up even more here and mum and dad have decided they are going to get out early for their shopping...think I would be happier if they stayed at home and sat it out as mum is not the most experienced or confident of drivers in snow plus the paths are so bad that either she or dad could go base over apex in the blink of an eye.

We in the UK are really having a predicted fall of heavy snow which has really caused major disruption all over the country but looking to a place down under 'Sydney' where temperatures are soaring to record levels...

...I really feel for people that have to contend with such temperatures of 46C, holy mackeral that must be dreadful for the elderly.

Have a peek at this link...

It'd snowed, so I drove to work in the snow, but was as rough as a badger's 4rse, so immediately booked a half day's annual leave (no sick pay). It's good that I did as I left in daylight and spotted a puncture - so there goes my entire disposable income I'd expected from the end of month pay packet :(

Home now ..... got hot coffee.... heating's on.
