Plumber also arranged for a rods plumber to come out to attend a leaking outside pipe - that is covered by homecare but it isn't the sort of plumber that attends leaking shower wastes - who knew there were so many types of plumbers?

It is possible that indoors plumber man took one look at the snow and decided that one of his colleagues ought to attend. :)

This is just a guess, but maybe the system has come up against some overall limit of number of users?

I wondered about that, but apparently not. It was some kind of problem at the server level caused by somebody with high level access clicking the wrong thing by mistake. It's just let me log in from home with no problem, so I'm hoping it's all sorted now and won't lock me out again. The big plus about the whole thing is that the guys on the support desk are so pleasant and helpful every time you have to talk to them, so it makes it all much less stressful than it otherwise might be. :)
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    More kind deeds.

Our lovely next door neighbour has been round and cleared a path for me.

Another villager and good friend of Mr S , who saw DD when she was walking back has offered to go in his 4x4 and fetch OH if he can get close by.

Husband made the connection and the flight from Moscow to Hrow looks promising , Mr S will hear from the taxi firm prior to boarding about his prospects of being picked up.

These things which we normally take for granted all have a frisson of wait/change/delay/unknown whether it is a tube/train in London, traffic on the commute or which airport Viva will end up at.

Spirit, in the bad snow three(?) winters ago I picked up dh from the station and there was an elderly man whose plane and train had been fine but who was waiting for a taxi......his face when I told him there simply hadn't been any and peoe were having to walk or call people nearby was dreadful and I offered him a lift to where he lived. Nothing that was not four by four was going to get through in a month of Sundays to his house on a hill on the outside of a remote village. He said he had no one to call and I have worried about him off and on ever since. He had returned from Florida and the idea of coming from heat to freeze with no supplies in (he had been a way a few weeks) concerned me a lot.

That was a very kind act, and very good of you to worry about whether he had some food. Hopefully, living in that location, he must have had some iron rations in stock.

I bet that he wasn't worried about the car being blue. :p

It was the red car then (double :mad:) and he was horrified by it. First of getting him in it was a feat in itself (we had to find something for him to stand on) and it had no heating and was very loud so he was excessively miserable. (but grateful nonetheless)

Tbh, don't think the blue car would have coped either, the read one was much better for snow and ice. Til dh put it upside down on ice that is.

What a kind act coupled with your continued concern is heart warmng.

Two neighbous (the lady who does dog B&B for us) were strolling past earlier each witha ruck sack, we chatted as our dog mad a fuss of tehm and they said that as their grocery delivery was not coming today they were walking to the village for shopping. It is 3 miles. I offered them the option of taking from the contents of the pantry however they said it was a nice stroll. Oh to be so fit and healthy, they are both pushing 50 but look great - they have a band as a second job - she plays bass - and I had a real pang of envy for their energy and creativity.

My husband is now bound for London, and his taxi is already at Heathrow waiting for him - so we just have to take it from there. I have checked with his friend and he really is up for meeting him when he gets close so I am delighted.

It has inspired me to clean up a bit - hoovered, mopped kitchen floor, will do the little bit of ironing and may polish. hen I will be shattered. Housework is not my daughters strong point and I am getting fed up with her 'stuff' just lying around. Actually that is an understatement she is a star turn at just not doing it and accumulating detritus - It makes me aggressive and I want to say and do vile things:(
