Would a solution be that she takes a cab to the coach station on the outward journey to travel to you; it may be less intimidating and easier to confirm with the cab company as she is starting from home, then you do the return journey with her by car.

That was plan A, but she said she was more comfortable having me at the start than the finish. Thanks for reminding me of this, I'm going to suggest we revert to this plan.

Only a week ago you were complaining about the damp and wishing for some proper winter weather to harden up the ground...I used to love the cold but now I tense up against it too much which is just the wrong thing to do. Did you suggest in another post that your new boiler struggled to keep up providing heating or hot water but not both?

Banks: We move loads of money through Lloyds each month, they think we are loaded and hopefully write frequent letters asking whether we would like to review our accounts and may be consider a few more of their products? (We only move money in and out as they offer 4% on instant access and pay interest over the weekend even if the money is elsewhere between Saturday and Monday - I may not be able to be in 2 places at once but my money can be :)).

Oh, I am not complaining about the weather, it's lovely. It's not that cold here though, and the ground has not frozen hard, it was drying up last week but drizzle has softened everythnig again. Forecast ATM looks dry till Friday (hurrah!).

Yes, I can have heating successfully, but hot water is a pita. We have a temporary shower still from the works which we kept because it was clear things were not going to plan, so not filthy, just not 'ablutionarily fulfilled'.

It's usually quicker then funded a clean enough shovel to use for drinking water, just to use handle of whatever tool I am using and then fish out the ice by hand :). If I don't need a tool to break it I break it by hand too, or ask special girl to break it...she knows how to. I make sure it's the last job before coming in though.

Good news! They fixed the car at not too grevious a cost. While I hate the car I hate choosing a replacement more so IMO it's the best possible outcome this year.

    Blue:mad:

I had found a nice brown car at auction I was hoping we could bid on if we could have afforded a tractor too. It said gold but it was definitely taupe slash brown.

I hate mushrooms, my DH doesn't eat tomatoes so we often swap those on our plates if we get served them when we are out.

Re the bank - probably that they want to sell you stuff and are fishing to know more about your finances.

Welcome to the new old fashioned way.

There are plenty of scams where people borrow large sums of money from various banks and shuffle it round for years before anyone realizes what's going on.

Also this sort of thing can be an indicator of money laundering.

Banks are increasingly being required by law to get into your business. If you don't like it you'll have to run your business interests without a bank account I'm afraid.

I think it's one of the two, and although there's nothing dodgy going on at all (it's actually been used to pay off part of the BTL mortgages, leaving about £140k across 3 properties outstanding, surely they should be able to see this from a credit report, or am I being ridiculous?

  • CK you are being ridiculous.....as you are worrying over nothing, they are just trying to get you back as liquid as possible with them so they can maximise their intrest in you. Threaten to remove every penny unless they stop pestering you, should work.

Actually, my car is blue. I really like blue. And red.

I want one of those ones with 6 wheels, like Lady Penelope has. But not that colour.

Blue and red are I think my least favourite car colours, And the coplours of our last two cars. (did I ever post the red one upside down?)

The blue is at least not bright.

I like to have a bit of anonymity in my car colour. Either that or yellow appeals:D

Dh still wants the aptera but doesn't look like it will come to the uk.

So do I. My last car was what I considered to be a nice blue colour. My current car is sort of blue - a pale air force blue-grey sort of thing. I feel it's boring compared with the old one.

lir, it's interesting that you like anonymous car colours when your taste in home decor shies away from anything remotely bland, conventional or unremarkable. Is that because everybody sees your car, but only those you invite in get to see your home?

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
