Would you seriously waste your time interviewing someone who didn't proof read their CV (or did and didn't notice 5+ errors in it).

In my last job I used to throw the CV in the bin if it had one error in it. If I did that with this lot I would have only had 2 left.

It's easy when there are a lot of applicants but then the job was already set aside.

The applicants probably know this and applying with other jobs they can become lackadaisical.

    Sounds very much public sector.

The applicant still wont pick up the phone in under 10 rings nor bother their !!! because they don't have to.

    Well.

Ken Dodd is still alive but Rod Hull had a fatal accident trying to adjust his TV aerial :)

How long do general clothes take to dry off in a dryer? We don't need the heating on much so on that rail things that provide "15m" of space, aye right! I'd rather have the expense and be able to get through 3 loads of washing every Sunday, washed and dried. As said just because we have it doesn't mean we will always have to use it, thanks!

    Takes quite some time.

If you don't have the heating on much then you will need a tumble dryer.

60-80 mins depending on what you're drying and how dry you want it.

    a heavy load of tees/sweatshirts/jeans could be 35 - 40 minutes.
For me it has always been about speed as I could do the entire family wash in one day start to finish....also bedding as well so we don't have to have spare sets.

I am a grammar fiend with CV's too. Just don't think there is any excuse nowadays.
If they don't pdf it and send it as a word doc it even has wiggly lines under each mistake 0-0

Is that important for all your staff?

I send all my things PDF but not every professional does.

How can you expect an employee to do a certain laborious job to be up on office techniques?

I can understand for office staff.

My point is that you can get a great worker who isn't "office savy" and an office savy worker that is a waste of time.

I just don't think it's the best way to judge a person but know it's the corporate way.
  • Thanks for all help guys think it helps a lot of *mature* women seem to post here! That's a compliment aswel, very helpful to a young lad who knows more about the back of a washing machine than the front! Fitted no problem, not the faintest how to use it!! Got to watch as gf has eczema so got to use certain products. Just don't want a tumble dryer and washing machine on for 3-4 loads every Sunday does that not cost a lot in electric?!

..it's not the only way and depends on the job. Unskilled I have done over the phone and no CV.

We had an admin asst last year and she was dreadful at spelling, English, Grammar......and she was replying to customers etc who could judge our business based on one of her responses. Fortunately she left as she found the job too hard.

    :rotfl: sounds like cheese..

Makes no difference if you do 3 wash loads in one day or over a week?...Uses the same amount of elec.

Margate is in Thanet and was the 1st seaside resort in the UK. It is now the cheapest most decaying seaside resort in the UK but I really like parts of it.
