Do you have a tumble dryer? If yes, do you rely on it?
If no, do you struggle getting everything dried over winter time?
Justifying the £350 gf is wanting to spend on a lovely black one that happens to match our new washing machine, fridge freezer and cooker....sigh.
We've got a washer dryer but hardly ever use the dryer bit (cos it's crap). Our thermostat is set at 24C because OH is from sub tropical climes originally, so the washing dries fine on a clothes horse in the spare room.0 -

We got 42 applications for the job. 31 of the CVs contained more than 5 spelling and grammar errors (almost all of those applicants claimed that they had excellent "attention to detail"). The worst one had 26 errors on a 2 page CV.
I only put 3 applicants in the "definitely interview" pile. One of those is already doing the job as is just going through the process so we can promote her.
This is a straightforward admin job paying up to £35k with 10% non contributory pension on top. I was expecting to have a hard time narrowing it down to less than 10 CVs.
Surely that doesn't determine who is right for the job? Personally I would read them all and only have the mistakes in mind but not the deciding factor by a long shot.0 -

I confess to being a tumble dryer person *oh the shame* but just because you have it doesn't mean you have to use it all the time.
I would go for one that vents out through the wall (so add cost of someone coming in and digging a hole). Otherwise put the hose out a gap in the window (but this is a pain as the cold comes in the house then).
As we have demolished and rebuilt our garage (now part of house and not garage anymore) we had to choose what wet appliance went (as new kitchen is in build no 2) as I used to have washer and dryer in the garage. Only room for 1 wet one in the kitchen so the dishwasher was voted out.
The dryer is now in the spare room and we have to put hose out the window for now which is a PITA.
I always use the line outside if warm and dry but I hate those concertina hanging racks all over the place. We have one that always has something stiff hanging on it. Shoved in the spare room too.
Went round to friends for drinks recently and she had 2 in their small living room festooned with bras, thongs and stuff. Kind of distracting.
Pity i wasn't around of you would have still had a nice time.
Come to the next one, bring the kids
It might be in Margate....but then again, it might not. 0 -
Would you seriously waste your time interviewing someone who didn't proof read their CV (or did and didn't notice 5+ errors in it).
In my last job I used to throw the CV in the bin if it had one error in it. If I did that with this lot I would have only had 2 left.0 -

Spelling and Grammatical errors on a CV for a £35k admin role? Even if you allow the people a number of mistakes, it still doesn't explain the fact that they don't appear to be able to operate the spellcheck on Word. I'm lax on here because I type mostly on a tiny screen but I'd be mortified if I'd sent out my CV without double triple checking it myself and then had it checked again by someone brainy.
I'm with chewy on this one. Can I work part time from home and maybe one day in the office a week if I send my CV in without errors? Bonus points if I don't say that "I can work alone or in a team?"Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I am a grammar fiend with CV's too. Just don't think there is any excuse nowadays.
If they don't pdf it and send it as a word doc it even has wiggly lines under each mistake 0-00 -
How long do general clothes take to dry off in a dryer? We don't need the heating on much so on that rail things that provide "15m" of space, aye right! I'd rather have the expense and be able to get through 3 loads of washing every Sunday, washed and dried. As said just because we have it doesn't mean we will always have to use it, thanks!:eek:Living frugally at 24
