Must have been horrible when no one turned up, and yes, that does read wrong :D

Pity i wasn't around of you would have still had a nice time.

Still feeling bad here. I should be in the UK in the first half of July and maybe the last week of June too, mostly in London and South thereof. Maybe best to avoid that time if you don't want an unreliable bloke messing up your weekend.

Hey happy new year all, 3 weeks now been in house, just got internet on. Have a question that will most likely get answered better on this thread than starting a new one elsewhere.

Do you have a tumble dryer? If yes, do you rely on it?

If no, do you struggle getting everything dried over winter time?

Justifying the £350 gf is wanting to spend on a lovely black one that happens to match our new washing machine, fridge freezer and cooker....sigh.

No, I don't like tumble dried clothes, (too much static).

I dry the washing overnight in the spare room with the window open. Aside from the last month of rain, in 4 years, all the washing dries overnight (even in the middle of winter!).

Anytime the weather looks ok, it goes outside.

    But we don't have children!

Spent the day CV sifting today, it was very depressing. The quality of applicant was atrocious. We got 42 applications for the job. 31 of the CVs contained more than 5 spelling and grammar errors (almost all of those applicants claimed that they had excellent "attention to detail"). The worst one had 26 errors on a 2 page CV.

I only put 3 applicants in the "definitely interview" pile. One of those is already doing the job as is just going through the process so we can promote her.

This is a straightforward admin job paying up to £35k with 10% non contributory pension on top. I was expecting to have a hard time narrowing it down to less than 10 CVs.

I found that such a problem the last time. I'm not sure if people even care about grammar/spelling anymore.

My worst offender was i instead of I. It just grated (probably because it was in 30+ of 54 applications I sifted through). :rotfl:

But as the PA told me as I was wading through it, at least it made the job easier! Quick shortlist, quick interview, quick appointment :)

I asked on the thread on the credit card board and no one replied so I suspect there aren't?

I gave out £50 of Harvey Nichols vouchers as xmas presents and the kids are wearing gap and Nike stuff and Tesco also gave us £20 :)

I had to chose between the Amex and the 5% cap one as my pre xmas spend card - the Amex has given me 120 quid cashback, 55 quidco and the foursquare / small shop goodies and I can cash in now, close it and go for the Barclaycard 6% deal rather than waiting a year for cashback :)
    I think....

Ever been seriously p155ed off... yet very happy at the same time?

Finally worked out the problem with the TV.

    Aerial socket: Fine
    Aerial lead: Fine
    Set top box: Fine
    SCART lead: Fine
    SCART socket in telly: Fine

    Oooookay .... so what's wrong?

Piggin' laptop/dongle interference!!! If I put my hand on the laptop case where the dongle plugs in, the telly works 100%!!!

Happy I can now have control of watching telly ... p155ed off I didn't think of wireless interference before as it's never been an issue before and I believed the regulations regarding wireless interference would have protected me.

    Grrrrr.... but WOOOO!!

But he said it's an admin job, so office skills do matter. I would feel the same about a teaching job. Anyone who can't pay better attention to written material shouldn't be marking kids' work.

    Yes your right, and chewy.

I have seen instances of teachers who have poor spelling recently and it doesn't seem right.

    That sounded wrong too :)

Wasn't supposed to sound wrong and it wasn't meant in a wrong way.

Still in mid Atlantic (Doozer term) and the post dropping through the door woke me up at 10.10

9 hours sleep is weird. I usually have around 7.

What is the normal sleeping time for the rest of the NP?

If I wasn't stabbed awake with pain last night, I would normally sleep 11:30-7 ish.

    Work time alarm is 6:30.

Last week is was more like 1am-10am :o

I know lots of people who don't need more sleep so it's always a big surprise when people find out that I need a good 7-8 hours.

Think there are lots of earlybirds on this thread tho

I need 8 hours and sometimes 9. Usually asleep by 10.30. Often up at 7.
