I'm 46
Thing is, If you love music then you will appreciate all genres even if some are better than others. Talent is talent, whenever it is born.
I'm sure zag will agree.
I thought you were a bit older that that (not that it particularly matters, was just the Jay-Z that threw me a little).
I don't even really mind if it's talented or not, I don't suppose for a minute that everything I like need be talented. But I've never felt constrained to like particular genres. In fact I really struggle when pressed to 'classify' music/ what I like. Its just music (/ that I like).0 -
I'm happy to have found a post to thank on this subject - after reading cries of 'throw them to the wolves' elsewhere. A post on DT urges manslaughter charges
Thoughts with the poor lady's family. 2 older teenage children I hear. She wasn't even the one who gave any info, just transferred the call. Hospital insisting no action was taken against any staff, Palace insisting they made no complaint. Prior to this terrible news everyone was pretty laid back about it, old Charlie was cracking some jokes.
....But, are we to keep believing that the Royals have such lax security that this could have honestly happened in the first place?
A publicity stunt with a tragic end?
Strange times.
Anyway, evening all, sorry to gatecrash, been several months
WOW!!! sjay is in da house!!!
Long time we no see sjay.0 -

Jay-Z is 42 the last I looked. He may be a bit older now.
What's good for you N is that music will always be there when no one else is. Which can be helpful on times, and your a good saver which all makes you a younger version of me in some ways.
Well that's two good points in my books anyway.0 -

That's the best way to be. When I was growing up people dressed to show what kind of music they liked which I think narrowed everybody's musical "spectrum".
It was a kind of self-defining fashion accessory. Always much preferred the attitude of John Peel and Jools Holland had/have got the broad-mindedness to listen to a wide range of music to find the best.
Some of the best concerts i've been to were accomanying others to really good concerts in genres I wasn't heavily into - e.g. Dr Hook, joan Armatrading, Simply Red, Eric Clapton and others. I'd recommend that everyone accompany their friends to a concert they wouldn't normally go to and expand their horizons.:beer:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Yup - apparently babies (e.g. Blue) have that kind of effect on you!
I'm not really sure how old I thought you were really, just a little older than that. Perhaps its more that I feel younger than I really am (I have only recently re-moved out of my parents').
The sad thing is, when music could have been there when no one else was, I wasn't listening to it. I lost my love of music - its only just coming back now (which makes me feel like I might be coming back)

Your still young N. (without knowing your age)
Think it's more you will turn to music if you need to, it will always be there. But yes, I know what you mean.
Your on the right track now. :beer:0 -

I'm 30. I think it is one of the things that made me know that I had to change my life - realising that I didn't really listen to music any more and that the music that was 'introduced' to me didn't really do anything for me (very formulaic). That and after going to at least a gig a month (and to Glastonbury a few years in a row), I was going to nothing (and the rare occasions I did see a band, they weren't anything that appealed to me).
I have a bit of catching up to do I think.0 -

I've just gone on youtube now, as you guys are talking about it, & my fingers hovver over the keyboard wondering what to type in the search box as my brain toys with the same half dozen bands I've listened to for years! We cannot change anything unless we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses. Carl Jung

On the frivolous note - I find myself really liking Bruno Mars' music (was just on Graham Norton). I don't really want to (bit of a music snob) - but I can't help it.
Ah, music. Music is the thing I am not MSE with, at all.
Love music.
Though I try very hard, friends have labelled me a music nazi:eek:.
I remember taking a girl out on a first date. In the car she leant forward & turned the stereo down. "What the f*** do you think you're doing?!?!" was my response...:o (I'm very possesive about the stereo when driving...)
I relate to the snobbish thing though. I have it less than I used to. Remember hearing James for the first time, loving the track Sometimes, feeling it was one of the best things I'd ever heard, & then learned who the artist was & felt I should dislike it, as I had a pre-formed idea about that type of band & their fans. Quickly realised it was nonsense, & have now seen them 11 times (& got tickets again for next year) & own almost ebverything they've ever released.
I have over 5000 cd's. I have almost 300 bits of lovely special vinyl. I'm a sucker for box sets.
Can't stand C&W though...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
