Ah, the Stars album (yeah, my Mum's fault too) is one I could actually listen to start to finish :o

My favourite ever is Radiohead (c1992-1998 -ish)
Then I tend to type; Verve, Killers, Muse, Manics - in no particular order.
So I'm quite 'guitar mainstream' in what I instinctively go far.

But like Zagubov's post said earlier, if I'm in someone else's house/car etc I find myself enjoying all sorts of other stuff too.
Just about keeping your ears & mind open for new music I guess (though easier said than done!) :A

Muse are awesome and I often listen to them.

Did you ever try led zepp. Bit earlier but great.

I love Radiohead. Early stuff, but had In Rainbows on loop for a long time.
The Verve... A Northern Soul.l is my favourite, followed by a storm in haven (music snob alert...not so keen when they went mainstream)
Muse...liked a lot, one of my best gigs ever. Not so keen on recent stuff, as much as I like Queen.
Manics... Loved up until Richie disappeared. Never been the same since :(

I always feel ashcroft wasted a good thing with the verve. They could have done so much more, or even him solo.

Saw him in around 2006. Thin I was the only one who knew, the old Verve, stuff. Real shame. But knew it wouldn't last when they reformed for urban hymns.

re's a lot of good stuff here for me to listen to, including the Sunshine Anderson video. I'd recommend one song for the C&W-haters Johnny Cash and his verison of Nine Inch Nails Hurt.

I dunno that it's a given she had other issues.

I saw my normally sane and steady husband go a bit loopy with his work issue last year, and I think, hope, everything else in his life was fine, but being stuck in a work drama.....especially working away from home as she did (a pattern familiar to us) when things go wrong, especially in the terribly public way this did, it's a scary place to be when you income supports a family. It's enough to push someone very hard and a long way IMO.

Of course most people do have more than one stress factor, but I don't think this was a straw, more a ruddy great log.

I wondered when I saw the nurse's name whether she's Philippino. There's a lot of problems there at the moment following the hurricane hitting Mindanao. I used to know some Philippino workers and they lived in fear of losing their jobs because they could never afford to look after their families to the same extent otherwise. Also their children live in the other country and you only get to see them a couple of times a year. I've heard of one who was worried that her daughter no longer saw her as Mummy but as a cashpoint who bought her presents. The interest was there when she got back for a while then went off after a few days.

It is such a quandry for Philippino women because if they go home they know their children will have the lives that they had. Couple that with other factors such as living alone in nurses quarters and the worrying about hurricanes and their impacts on the extended family could be a toxic mix. It is a terrible shame.

On a lighter matter, somebody help me out. I'm a dog lover, own a terrier, love it and its breed and most other breeds . But I couldn't help but notice a particular breed predominating in the rescue dog photos.:D

It's a real problem with staffies. When my parents have been to look at dogs the homes are absolutely full of them, so there's not a lot of other dogs to look at. Then there are a lot of total mutts that are a mix of all sorts, but you see the brindle coat and think "ok, that's a bit staffie too". There's not a lot left.

My parents aren't anti-staffie, but they are very muscular dogs and think they would be too much for them, as clearly they have been for the families that have given them up. I think also that if they did have a staffie, they wouldn't want a rescue one, as you don't know if it has lived with a total scroat who wants their dogs as trophies and has roughed them up a bit. It's terribly sad.

The good news is that I did see a lovely wire coated lurcher (our favourite type). The bad news is it was in Cornwall. Booo...
