Staffies seem to be being replaced ' on da street' with dogs of malamute and husky type. This terrifies me. While both have great qualities, and the malamutes are stunningly beautiful ( and a healthy wolf like body shape) they NEED the kind of exercise most owners cannot provide. Four hours pulling a sled, fast, should do it, so...upwards of four hours following a fast bile or similar. I know someone who drives them on their farm, which seems great. An hour, or even two, plodding round urban streets.....? Less for most of them? I am worried its a seething, steeping mass of energy which could be an outbreak of dog attacks waiting to happen at worst and, 'at best' some seriously unhappy dogs.

If I had my way, I'd ban all breeds except labradors. Well, that's a bit extreme, but you can see where I am heading - intelligent, pleasant dogs to have around a family with young kids. Of course, you can make any dog neurotic, but you have to work harder to manage that with a lab.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Dh and I both had careers in music before him doing what he does now and me doing nothing.

Ooh, that's exciting. Were you celebs? Did you trash hotel rooms?

:) you lot have been busy! we got new carpets yesterday so today will be manic house cleaning.

As for music, I'm into the new thing where I like a song from one band but won't be bothered about the rest of the CD if that. I have my boundaries pushed by new music from OH when we go to see random new music or old music. Not really anything commercial, we listen to all sorts though.

It's Christmas CDs at the moment :D I love christmas!!

Not with a working stock lab you don't, really.

Labs are great dogs, but they suit a particular type of person. And again, though it's often underestimated...they do
Much better with more exercise than most get.

IMO I would be a bad lab owner because they lab would blander to my control freakery. Sighthounds challenge that in me Which I love, it's good for my soul. Greyhounds generally make great dogs for towns and cities where there is off lead walking place...because they don't need long periods of exercise. Obedience training though....well.....it's not their forte!

About music...I used to be very narrow minded late teens/early twenties. :o It was metal or nothing.

Then I grew up and now I like loads...rock, jazz, classical, R&B...

Currently listening to Coltrane's My Favorite Things. So good...

Lemonjelly, good to see you are enjoying the classical foray....how is your list? Want any more suggestions yet?

I cannot remember if I suggested yan garberek 'Officium' before. U

Really liking the classical stuff LIR! Listened to classic fm on the way home from a gig last night.
I appear to be liking Mozart, Wagner, & Elgar.
I'm finding that I don't like opera. I appreciate the talent, but it doesn't move me.

I really love music with big sweeping string movements too. I love stuff like the last 7-8 minutes that was in the opening ceremony of the olympics, where underworld worked with the london symphony orchestra (in the "pandemonium section).

Went to something at symphony hall recently & loved the following:

Any suggestions will always be looked into!:)

A friend (a pixel friend from another forum) has offered to compile some interesting listening when he returns to the UK at christmas. (He's a music teacher who works abroad).:)
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

I got the M&S half price offer of 12 bottles for under £60.

Would have been rude not to.

It's a good song and I often find it floating around in my head too.

Zag and I are music lovers. Are there any more on this thread?

Loved the AC/DC (Buenos Aires) concert on BBC4 tonight.

They love their heavy rock in South America, great crowd.

Huge music lovers here, the whole blooming family...no surprise middle son has gone into music really.

I mainly like rock but I also like music such as Glen Miller, The Carpenters, Buddy Holly, a whole host of 80s New Romantic stuff and trance music.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
