What kind of car is it that is girly? Does it mean the same as a hairdresser's car?
Yes, I suppose so. It's a Mini Cooper s, although it is pimped like doozer's (or more accurately chavved up with a noisy exhaust). I have also decorated the alloys with large gouges and scratches using every kerb I could find).
In retrospect I should have bought a real Beemer but I wasn't thinking straight at the time.0 -

You have just altered my mental image of you. You have got younger and shorter. I agree with the girly. It strikes me as a hip young woman's car. I would be far too old for one.
I have not bonded with my BMW:(, but my husband really likes it. He uses the different modes and allsorts. I CBA. The automatic gearbox and the heated seats are the best bits IMO.
I am getting used to the keyless thing though, and was thrown when I tried to move Mr S's car and really could not figure out how to start it. Oh, I need to put a keyfob in somewhere on the dash, yes, yes, of course.0 -

When I lived there in the 60s and early 70s, a lot of American music was popular, especially Motown. Also all the British bands of the day. I can even remember hearing on Aussie radio that the Beatles were splitting up. In terms of Aussie artists, all I remember is Johnny Farnham having a hit with Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head, which was many years before Your the Voice.
The biggest problem I have from back then is that the TV was very different. Virtually nobody I know here remembers Gilligan's Island, which was then my absolute favourite show (I also liked the Banana Splits, I Dream of Jeannie, the Jetsons and the cartoon Jackson 5, Aussie TV was very American back then). Though in retrospect not remembering Gilligan may be a good thing.
I remember most of those programmes but not Gilligan'sIsland. I've older friends that rembered it though. Australian TV in Scotland in the 60s and 70s consisted of The Magic Boomerang, Skippy and The Phoenix Five SF series.
There was tones of US telly. I think at one stage there were 17 Cowboy series on per week, a genre I soon OD'ed on and would rather stick pins in my eyes rather than watch now. High Chapparal, Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Alias Smith and Jones, The Wild, Wild West, Laramie, the Virginian........
Modern viewers woulod probably find this hard to believe. There weren't that many soaps though AFAIK, just Corrie and Crossroads and maybe one or two others.
It was illegal to show repeats more than once on any channel, and they always branded it as "a Chance to See Again"-- then they erased the programme! There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
There's one thing we gotta get, Jones, and that is outta here0

I have big tyres this time cause it's the big mini, so instead of busting an alloy last week, I bust a tyre instead. £130 later It would have been cheaper to fix an alloy.
I think the Cooper S definitely looks like a boy!
I swapped BMW for mini and everytime I've been to the dealer, I've seriously considered a swap back thinking I "should" but I wasn't ready then, and I'm not ready now to grow up either. You need to hit the sport button and take it out of townEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Minis are big now and anyone except for a total freak could get in the driver's seat (although if you are taller than a midget then no one will be able to get in the back seat behind you). I could not, however, fit in the driver's seat of the original minis or at least I couldn't get in conventionally. I used to have to put my left leg over the top of the steering wheel rather than underneath it in order to get in to one of those.
I deeply regret not getting heated seats. They will be the first thing on my shopping list for the next car after this one. Could never drive an auto again though as it is too sedate for my liking.0 -
I'm definitely not a car person then
Here I am thinking that I should splash out and spend at least £1000 on the next car. :rotfl:
I'm gonna do a PN's POSH ALERTwith the heated seats

Thanks all thessssss. I did see, I'm in two minds tbh.
Sky flagged that up during the race and mentioned it constantly throughout their commentary. Goes to show that for all the teams' pounds, dollars and euros, they should spend a few of them monitoring what the TV pundits are seeing to use to their advantage.
I do feel an appeal should have been lodged at the time. Vettel was always going to get past Vergne - he drives for the sister team of Red Bull and was in a less powerful car. Also Ferrari should have noticed it sooner as it was powered by their engine. What should have happened - and there was plenty of time to do - would be to do a drive through penalty. That would have put Schumacher ahead of him and there's a chance he would still have been behind Vergne, who finished 28 secs behind him. However there is no chance whatsoever that he would have been allowed to stay in that place given the sister team status.
I'm a Ferrari fan but don't like seeing any season won or lost anywhere but on the track. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I hope you had to google that.
I think there are a number of us of a certain age that would be ashamed to admit we wouldn't have to google that.
Wheezy took one for the team though. He could at least claim immunity on the grounds that he is Belgian. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
