the hardness is caused by the calcium and the softening replaces the calcium with sodium. But you don't want to drink too much sodium, so you the pass it through the reverse osmosis thingummy and that removes the sodium and loads of other impurities. From this thingummy it will them go to its own tap and to the fridge - so i won't need the filter on the fridge that was £40 every 6 months and a pain to change because it was sited behind the fridge.
Apparently the ice maker will then produce crystal clear ice.
I wasn't thinking of this initially, I was just going with the softener, but the deal is stacking up better if I go for all this. Negotiations seem to be that I can add whatever in and the price is hardly going to change, but the base price can't be lowered.
If you soften the drinking water, do you increase the risk of osteoporosis? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

The flooding is subsiding now, reasonably swiftly. There are places it's sitting round here, but they are places it has sat in the two dry winters, so I would expect them to be wet now.
Water meadows for example.
Edit: I bought flannel sheets today and they looks so cheerful and warm. I am trying to work out how early I can go to bed reasonably.....
Almost every year I plan to visit Bath. Don't know why, but always had an inclination to holiday there. Still never been though...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Men need hugs too, you know. This is the time of year I hate, even with the SAD light on. The days are still getting shorter, and there's a long, dark winter stretching ahead of us.
I hate leaving home for work when it is dark, & then later leaving work for home & it is also dark.
Not seeing any daylight is depressing. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

. I noticed all the buds all over the lilacs today. I love lilac, it's such an optimistic plant....those buds are always planning ahead .....maybe you should plant one? And soon, just a matter of weeks, the japenese Quince (one of my absolute favourites) will be budding up then flowering, those delicate, beautiful flowers on their bare stems.
Noticed our cherry blossom had lost all its leaves last week. But buds are everywhere on it, ready for the spring.
I don't know why, but I feel I've become a lot more aware of the relentless passage of time recently. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
