I'd think about keeping it going a bit longer. Bangers are good value to run compared with newer cars.
Until I started doing different things and was 'just' a teacher, I used to buy a motor for about £75, run it until the MoT was out, then sell it for parts.
I seem to remember I had a 'B' reg Cavalier estate in June 2003, an 'H' reg Cav in March 2004, a 'J' reg Sierra in Feb 2005, then an 'M' reg Scorpio in about August 2005, before having OH's old '53' Peugeot 406 HDi (we owned it from new) and duly cabbing it to death (It's still a taxi, with nearly 800k miles on it!!!). Total cost for 3 years motoring was -£700, and about £900 for insurance, so overall about £200 plus a bit of petrol (about £20 a week, so £3k over 3 years)

Poor you. I used to get terrible insomnia, it's horrible.
I watched the Plastique Bertrand video earlier. He was a very clean cut punk!
I've got my other 2nd interview on Friday. The same applies as with the last one, good to get but not a requirement. The only reason to go for the job at all is to hasten my exit from the financial services industry.0 -

What kind of car is it that is girly? Does it mean the same as a hairdresser's car?
Back in May i posted that I had promoted me from my aged 160,000 plus miles Yaris to new BMW. I buy new and keep cars until they are economically and reliability depleted. So I look at the cost of ownership over the long term.
On the insurance front Mr S and I drive each others cars however neither of us included our DD on our policies this year as she increased the premiums quite a lot. However she turns 25 in January and I plan to add her to mine if it is not an arm & a leg. Those of you close enough to remember is age 25 still a break point for reasonable premiums kicking in? She does have a 6 or 7 years NCD. This will be convenient if she can drive one of our cars as hers is an I10 and it is very snug if she ever drives us anywhere and as it usually me sat in the back I end up covered in horse hair and sitting next to a rubbish tip of assorted junk. Yes- I know I am ungrateful.
She has also 'consented' to drive my elderly MG next summer (I have held onto it forever awaiting a time when she would want it) so I have to see if our 'classic car' policy will cover her.0 -
Sorry Spirit, I didn't drive until I was 30!!
Pumpkin bread turned out ok. will cover with frosting for work tomorrow, maybe posh it up with cream cheese lemon one0 -

I learnt to drive when I was 17, but only bought my first car (and so needed my own insurance) at 30.
Just to confuse matters, isn't insurance for young females going to be going up soon (in Jan I think) due to the EU outlawing sex discrimination in these things...? Would it be worth her sorting something out before then? (I'm sure there will be a guide/ discussion elsewhere on the site about this)0 -

Yes, some date in December. Luckily the boys' car's insurance renews in January.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I think 25 with a large NCD should be fine. Check out the multi-car policies, I think Admiral do a popular one.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. It's all females. On any insurance product where they currently discount females eg. Life insurance where we don't pay as much atm because we're better at staying alive.
I'm outraged that it means female insurance goes up but male insurance doesn't come down to balance. The point of this being what, exactly?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Edit: Took me a while to post this as I was busy with other things and I notice your up, already

His song jumped into my head when I read that. I think he only did one I remember, forget the title.

I love the i10. I hired one in Malta last year which was far better than the Ford Fiesta we had this year, which got me interested in Hyundai's.
Funny thing is, I know someone around your age and height (give or take an inch or two) with a old MG.
Our insurance was around £240 for a new Hyundai Santa Fe Premium 4X4. This is a very low crime area.0
