We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
WE have a kinetico(?) water softener but it was from ebay. WE were redoing a lot of the plumbing anyway at the time which helps a lot in terms of plumbing in a non-softened tap in the kitchen and outside.
I am thinking of having a filter reverse osmosis tap for drinking water, so the drinking water will have the hardness softened out and then the sodium (that is a by-product of the softening process) removed. Meant to leave you with very clear and tasty water. Also persuading them to change the stop c@ck while they are here and to remove the filter off the fridge water/ice system as the water won't then need filtering. One outside tap will remain on hard water.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I once chased a van driver up the road whilst in my nightie and not a lot else after he bashed into my car outside the house.
He looked pretty shocked when I doubled back and then stood in front of his van shouting and pointing (he had tried to avoid our bit of the road by using a slingback part of the road)...now I am not too sure if the shock was due to being caught out or because my nightie was pretty short and I had no knickers on!
Whatever the cause of the shock, he was so shaken up he willingly gave up his insurance details.....We made it! Do you not drink the fridge water/ice and thus that would also need to be de-softened?I think....0 -
Sounds good but somehow the thought of first paying to soften the water then paying again to remove the softening....
Do you not drink the fridge water/ice and thus that would also need to be de-softened?
the hardness is caused by the calcium and the softening replaces the calcium with sodium. But you don't want to drink too much sodium, so you the pass it through the reverse osmosis thingummy and that removes the sodium and loads of other impurities. From this thingummy it will them go to its own tap and to the fridge - so i won't need the filter on the fridge that was £40 every 6 months and a pain to change because it was sited behind the fridge.
Apparently the ice maker will then produce crystal clear ice.
I wasn't thinking of this initially, I was just going with the softener, but the deal is stacking up better if I go for all this. Negotiations seem to be that I can add whatever in and the price is hardly going to change, but the base price can't be lowered.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. As a measure of how boring I am, I would have paused to don underwear, shoes, jeans and a coat.0 -

I like winter too, but I don't think that helps gdb and fellow sufferers!
I find very heavy rain rather sensual, they make me want to throw off any inhibitions I might have. Summer showers are usually the best though0 -
That makes me feel better about mine (I think we have similar cars - I went for something like £500 for 10 months (some kind of accelerated build up of no-claims (crosses fingers and toes and touches wood)). I only added my mum on too. I think I estimated 6000 miles.
Mine is about the same and it's £330 for the rubbish car I drive.
maybe i should get another car (well, it isn't going to pass the MOT with duck tape for the headlamp!) :rotfl:0 -
