Ah ha, I forgot dh was with you today and had been worrying that the reason you had not checked in this morning was because you were under several feet of water.I think....0 -

Nah, he has been working and I went to Bath..
The flooding is subsiding now, reasonably swiftly. There are places it's sitting round here, but they are places it has sat in the two dry winters, so I would expect them to be wet now.
Water meadows for example.
Edit: I bought flannel sheets today and they looks so cheerful and warm. I am trying to work out how early I can go to bed reasonably.....0 -
Tomorrow I should be warm.
. I am hoping, anyway. I should wash my hair tonight really, but I ain't gonna because seems silly to struggle tonight when I can do it in comfort tomorrow evening.
. So I will just have a shower and scrub the rest of me.

I hate it that someone can build a house in the water meadow, and soon we'll all have to club together to insure him.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
All of a sudden I feel a bit queasy...but not to be leave anyone out I would be more.than happy to hug Lydia, singlesue, lir, wageslave silverware and spirit. Now who is first?
Men need hugs too, you know. This is the time of year I hate, even with the SAD light on. The days are still getting shorter, and there's a long, dark winter stretching ahead of us.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Hmm. I would not object to one person building a design that was appropriate....on stilts for example....but it would never get through our planning. What I object to are the places where 600 -6000 new homes get built on a flood plain and we have to pay for it via in surance....and get increased flooding in the local area as that water has to go somewhere and it cannot drain as quickly there as it used to....so the flood range is wider. So many pay thrice...for their increased insurance for the houses built, for their flooding, and for their personally increased premiums now they flood!0 -

I'll hug ya.
Although I recognise it doesn't totally conter balance the depressive impact for those who suffer SAD, perhaps you can indulge in a specific to cold dark weather treat over these short dark days.
Mulled wine, mulled cider.....hot toddies.
Manly:D pine scented baths with bubbles. (and wife and glass of wine)
Tour of sparkly lights at any near by appropraite places (dh and my mother love that, and disappear to ooh and ahh at the pretty sparkly lights)
Other things.....it's not so terribly long til the shortest day now ..then we can be pleased that the days will creep up wards in length.. I noticed all the buds all over the lilacs today. I love lilac, it's such an optimistic plant....those buds are always planning ahead .....maybe you should plant one? And soon, just a matter of weeks, the japenese Quince (one of my absolute favourites) will be budding up then flowering, those delicate, beautiful flowers on their bare stems.

The shortest day is 4 weeks away. Yes, I thought of that too, but I just can't summon up much enthusiasm, as it means we have another 8 weeks until days are back to today's length.:(No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Gosh, think of all the mulled wine, cider and warm alcoholic punch recipes one could test in that time!0
