Most likely is he had a rough night last night, seen the elec door was open and shoved it in there, rather than having to try and communicate with a human being.

Edit: It's very unlikely that the delivery guy would have the incline or anything on him to force the lock. I think if you presume the door had been left open then you can make some sort of sense of this.

Does the cupboard use standard FB keys or one of those rubbish triangular keys?

It isn't a key like the FB ones, nor a rubbish triangular one. It's more like an Allen key. It's standard mind, I could use mine to open all the other cupboards around here. Don't know what it is called though, which is a shame, as I'd rather like a spare. I've asked the neighbours, but they tend to get referred to as "the bin shed door opening key thingy" or similar.

Just opened DS's first report from his new school. (I was out really late on Friday so they had a sitter, and then he forgot to give it to me yesterday!) No attainment grades for this first report, just effort grades, which can be outstanding, excellent, good, needs improvement or unsatisfactory. He's got 4 goods, 7 excellents and 2 outstandings. :D I'm particularly pleased with his outstanding in English. Obviously the teacher has realised how difficult he is finding it with his dyslexia and giving him due credit for how hard he is trying. :)

    That's great news lydia.

    Bl**dy Yodel.

Just noticed that I've had a slip through my door for a parcel delivery. Now why I have a slip when I've been in all morning and the doorbell hasn't rung, well that's question 1.

However, they've managed to deliver my parcel. Somewhat bizarrely, rather than ringing the doorbell, they've opened my locked electricity cupboard, placed it in there, left the door swinging open in the wind and sodded off. I don't even know how the got the door open. I have called drtifosi at work and he didn't leave door open, it wasn't open when he left for work and he's not the sort of person who would lie to me. So !!!!!! has happened here?

    Doh!!!!!!!

I read years ago that they built a new town in Herts which had or they planned to have special delivery cabinets in the houses called receivadors, so when you were out goods could be left safely.

Did that ever happen? Sounds like something relevant to the internet age of home-delivered goods.

We have a dog kennel near the front door. Works ok with regularly delivery people.

I'm not aware of any new town in Herts that has these and I know most of the new towns reasonably. However I do remember before I moved a petrol station near me installed a bank of different sized lockers that you could open with a key. I think you'd show ID and then be able to pick up your parcel. This was ideal because the garage was opened 6-11 - much longer than parcel depots and they also had parking. The plan was not to be aligned to any parcel delivery service. I don't know what happened to that though, it appears to have died a death. Shame, it was a good idea and another good source of income for a garage.

You can arrange to have deliveries sent to your local post office but opening hours are a problem for many and there is, I believe a £1.50 charge.

When I say New Town I hink it was maybe Welwyn Garden City oir some such- we're talking about a century ago or thereabouts.

Sometimes new towns get a chance to bring in ideas that catch on elesewhere later, e,g Milton Keynes with its cabled TV.

The plot thickens. My neighbours say that the electric reader hasn't been round and no my cupboard wasn't open earlier. This would suggest that this Yodel operative has availed him/herself of a set of generic keys to gain access to cupboards. I'm not tbh comfortable with this, though obviously I don't leave valuables in a cupboard I can't lock properly. I was also reminded that this was the same Yodel that lobbed a parcel over the gate that leads to someone else's garden thinking it was ours. In that respect their standards may actually have increased a little... I think we'll not order from Amazon again if they are the chosen couriers for the item (I know they use many).
