Me too. I love beans on toast, especially with a little grated cheese and black pepper on top. After watching the news about floods and that documentary about cities this week I'm glad I don't live in Mexico City where the city's sinking in a crater and the sewage is starting to flow backwards down to the city and has to be pumped upwards to drain away.
And I wouldn't like that poor guy's job in the diving suit to swim in the sewage and clear up the filters and pumps.
Mind you I supsect his annual review goes well.
"Well we've decided to let you keep the filter-cleaning job for another year but remember you need to work hard at it or we'll get someone else to do it"
Yeah, right.:rotfl:
not sure - would have thought in a city with 20 million inhabitants and only a very basic social welfare system that you can probably find quite a lot of people prepared to do pretty much any job, no matter how horrible, for not very much money.0 -
I have been rummaging around in my trunks of hoarded fabric today and have found I have a choice of fabric for the utility room blinds.
Either a cream and red ticking, but the stripes will have to be horizontal, because that's how I would have enough of it, or an amazing sort of orangey/salmony not quite toile de joUy. Not sure how to describe it, I might snap a pic later.
The cream and red is the simpler colour choice, as the boiler is red (a slightly different red) and I don't dislike it. But the farmyard toile type thing is unusually and warm and with the red boiler and dead salmon walls will ok warm and autumnal and while less classic and elegant might be more us.
I might take pics for nice people opinions later.
Edit
Colours not coming out under artificial light and dh grumpy I got his bare back in an unflattering shot0 -
Dh just gave me a glass Of hautes cotes de Beaune and even with the taste impact of my pills I ided the flavours on the label(apple and nutmeg, but I also said cream. Our bottle is rather past it's beast though.
. A note for the furture might be to organise wines by when they should be consumed!
Dh thinks I should do a wine tasting course, professionally, but.......worried they would all be a load of know all up them selves people.0 -

The whizzing up of the filling takes not very long so you could bake it quite quickly after work one if you don't have to factor in pastry. it is better after a day IMO. But I am not keen on something's hanging about. I have never frozen it (never makes it to the freezer) wonder if it would freeze ok.
I found the famous Christmas tree ring baking tin in Bath on thursday and bought it. I made a plain orange sponge today and stuck it in the oven while showering, which is how I used to cook when I worked, prep, oven, bath, eat.
i'm going to make it later in the week then. Whizzed up the butternut squash so that's ready. A pie isn't all that much work
Want to make pecan pie but waitrose was out of pecans :eek:0 -

Oooohhh, I love the second one! Is that pigs I can see?
I love pigs and am a collector of Piggins. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Think I have found my level for cooking shows...Junior Masterchef! They explain how to do things, what the various things are etc and even have easy to understand recipes on the CBBC Junior Masterchef website.
Mind you, think I can go without the having a responsible adult on hand to do the sharp things....or can I? :rotfl:We made it! Used to get people knocking on my door to ask if we wanted to be in the audience of Ready Steady Cook. We lived on the road where the studiio was where they filmed it and they'd send people out to round up the neighbours if they didn't have a full audience.
Got fed up of them asking and when the battery on the doorbell went dead I didn't replace it.:DThere is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
