Not been around for a bit. How is everyone? Have taken early retirement, after a legal battle with my ex contractor I got a nice settlement that has allowed me to do sol. I am sure they owe more but really didn`t want the stress of court and their statements, which I am sure they would have used in court were not altogether the truth.
.....
Anyway I am back and will be following the thread.,
Good to see you back. Hearing from you and that things are going so well has quite improved my mood with Monday morning looming.I think....0 -
I'm glad to hear things are heading in the right direction for you pobby. If you can book trains in advance, they are cheaper
Sorry to hear that things are heading in the wrong direction, miss kool
Hope you're able to snuggle with fir, lir and that you have enough nice cheese and stuff in for munching on.
DS is on the mend, his form tutor has been an angel. We'll meet with him in the mirning for contingency planning but he has cancelled the rest of DS' exams so he doesn't get stressed and has asked the teachers not to set prep for him this week so that he can ease in. God send really as DS was panicking heavily about the work he was missing.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Friend's been ill this week. Very healthy fit individual without an ounce of fat on her body or any predisposing risk factors. Unexpected heart attack. Fitted with a stent and out now. Everyone's cooking meals for her this week.
Down the gym all the time and eats sensibly. No family history AFAIK.
Baffling.:( She's trying to find out why it happened to her. Don't know how to say that medical knowledge is limited so there's quite possibly no answer. Wouldn't be the answer she's looking for.
There's a bit in "Sophie's World" that I'm listening to where we're compared with fleas on a hair on the magician's rabbit that's being pulled from the hat and we're trying to understand how the magician does it. There's a lot of that in our everyday lives and for the foreseeable future, in human life in general. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

It didn't go wrong in the way you are thinking, I stopped and got out of there when I realised that the reason I felt under the weather wasn't because I was a bit tired. However I fainted in shower, woke up confused as hell and stood straight up causing me to faint again. The second time I face planted into the metal shower controls.
In retrospect it was an interesting experience. I got to ride in the back of an ambulance and acquired two interesting new scars on my face. I was extraordinarily lucky not to lose any teeth though.
The norovirus didn't fully manifest itself until I had been in the hospital for quite a while.0 -

Just shows you can manage risk but not eliminate it, I suppose. Performance athletes drop dead now and then whilst some people with terrifically unhealthy lifestyles make it to 100, it's just the way it is.0 -

Look at Muamba at Spurs a few months back. The club had the equipment to help him and a doctor stepped out of the crowd to save his life. If he'd been jogging at the local park he'd be dead most likely.0 -

The Muamba story is amazing. The fact that he was out for so long and yet is still alive is an extraordinary testiment to modern healthcare.
I also really liked the way the Spurs fans were so concerned and so warm to him when he went back as a guest.
Can't wait to see him on the Strictly Christmas special. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

A bit concerned about a man with a dodgy ticker doing the dancing though. Fit athletes and all sorts get out of breath doing the dances.
I have passed the turn, we appear to have a short version of it (seems to be 24-48 hour thing rather than the weeklong version that plagues everyone else). There is a hell of a lot of it going around this year.0 -
Nice to see you again Pobby, keep plodding on with your recovery.
I too was left with a poorer memory than I had had before my breakdown, quite eek for me as I had a photographic memory before and now I have to write stuff down. Thankfully, I was ok for driving but I can relate with the bill paying, I had a multitude of alarms set on my mobile to remind me to pay!
My breakdown has changed me and for a while, my confidence was quite low too but I am glad to say it is now returning slowly, so don't lose hope.
Youngest is now back at school, weirdly, the teacher who upset him has been acting rather strangely..he is being really nice and dare I say it, worried about youngest returning to class. I have tried to tell him that although it was an incorrect accusation from him which was the last straw for youngest, that it could have been any teacher saying slightly the 'wrong' thing and that the real catalyst was the on call teacher who was a stranger to youngest shouting at him....the school know not to send people unknown to youngest to talk to him, let alone one who will shout.
Of course, it would never have happened if they had been following his statement and he had his TA in the first place.....yes, they are still breaching his statement, using the excuse they have a shortage of TA's, so youngest is receiving next to no help in class (and they wonder why he is not coping all of a sudden)
Oh well, variety is the spice of life as they say and these last 6 weeks have certainly been full of variety! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

I know that doctor. He said that saving Muamba's life was easier than convincing the stewards to let him on to the pitch!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
