I'm so picky with food and stuff, that if I only chose people who liked the same foods as me, I'd never find anyone!
I think sometimes it is the differences between you that make you, rather than what you have in common. That opportunity to learn new things/perspectives, or to show someone something they've never seen/heard/experienced that you are passionate about is simply the best.
I've learned so much from people with different viewpoints from me. Sometimes I have changed views, others, it has challenged my views but in a good way, as I have re-enforced them by having them questioned.
I challenged a few people today with my courgette cake!
Generally the cakes seemed to go down very well. I'm just hoping that everyone isn't violently ill over the weekend (can't think of any particular reason why they would, but I don't really want to make that kind of impression). There was a funny moment where someone who works in a different room was saying how they had never tried courgette in a cake before and that they weren't keen to do so again... then someone thought it was funny to point out that I was sat there and that I had made it. The courgette non-fan was so apologetic, everyone else was in stitches, and I didn't have enough words to convey how much I wasn't bothered that a) he didn't know my name and b) that he wasn't keen on the cake.
I chose it to be a bit different (and also because I knew it wouldn't be dry). I love challenging people's views (probably to the point of being annoying), but also like mine to be challenged too. We wouldn't get very far if we all though the same.
I have managed to introduce/ convert people to many foodstuffs. I am happy for things to be left if they are really not liked, so long as they are given a fair trial0 -

There must be something about the place-where you-are that encourages culinary innovation. I shared a flat there with some fellow-students who made a peach omelette to use up some left-overs.
Never made a second one and they bought a recipe book after that.

Peach omelette sounds pretty, erm, interesting. Peach in salad perhaps. Peach with chilli I might give a go. I would draw the line at in an omelette though
I didn't completely make it up myselfA previous colleague had made one and it was nice so I googled for a recipe. If I hadn't mentioned my secret ingredient (didn't want to find out the wrong way that someone was allergic to courgettes) then I don't think anyone would have guessed.
When my turn next comes around I might bake something savoury (it always seems to be cakes).0 -

Mud is a feature of life here. I am getting too old for it though.0 -
Thank you everyone.
As I say, this is really a very long way from being a disaster. Even if I don't get the other job it's not a problem at all. A part of me doesn't want to get it as what I'm doing thoroughly suits my lifestyle.0
