Dear me- I always suspected the West Midlands could give Herts a run for its money as a NP heartland but I didn't realise the density of NPs per cubic furlong up there was so high. You guys must all be fighting for the same parking space half the time!
Herts: sc, viva, michales, CK
Wolverhampton and environs: lj, doozer, nikkster jb.
As a neutral outsider, I therefore declare it a draw (until Nikkster moves).
Me and a car full of stuff are in my new location. Just waiting for new flatmate to get back from town so I can meet her and see the flat for the first time in person :eek:0 -

Top tip: NEVER share. Ever. SRSLY..... don't.

People are different. Some people are temperamentally suited to sharing their living space with another person, and other people aren't, and still others can be happy either way. Just like some people are temperamentally suited for working for themselves, while others are happier in a job for an employer.
Pastures, you have a higher need for personal space than many people, you're good at being content with your own company and don't find solitude as lonely as many people do, you prefer to react to interpersonal conflict by retreating, and you are living with a particularly intrusive and difficult flatmate. Living alone is clearly the best option for you. Nikkster is a different person. Maybe sharing will be quite different for her. Let's hope so.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
:eek:It took over three hours to turn a tiny bit of new border pull most:o:mad: of the weed roots out and dig in manure. I know that corner is going to give us trouble, because where we sieved out weeds and crud it's bad enough.
But now there is a pretty, baby smoke bush (think variety is called flame) and four dogwoods, two Siberia and two mid winter fires. It's going to be beautiful in a couple of years at this time of year.....only it's the white garden. I don't think an autumn fiery anting scheme needs to detract from summer coolness.
I have to be careful because I get very easily carried away. I fancy dog wood everywhere now. (I even suggested a dog wood hedge to dh. Dog wood makes a beautiful hedge, but not that private, and we want private.0 -

Teaches you to get on with people a bit, I suppose and expands your tastes as you get exposed to other people's food and music (well as long as its any good):D
Whe I lived where Niikkster is I had to share and it was great- you meet nice people and crime's low IIRC.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

LL's definitely got something odd going on. Presents one person to the world; is another once you're trapped.... talks the talk, doesn't walk the walk.
First thing this morning, I got up, went to go out - had to go right past her as she was in the hallway .... "Did you put your clocks back?" first question. "What are you doing today?" in a loaded/trick question way. Doesn't sound much, but a grunted "morning" without eye contact would have sufficed... at max.0 -

Yeah we like it. So much so we moved 200yds last time and we just put an offer on another about another 200yds away. Refused though. We're not going to increase.
It's the one which would stretch us anyway. The one I said we couldn't afford. :rotfl:
Actually I'll send a PM. It's a project and a half but needs to come down in price imo.
Getting an architect in to change this one again now instead.0 -
Shame is if you ever live in London you don't get to have a place to yourself. Sharings' pretty much the norm.

Sharing's one thing, but being watched, controlled, told what to do/eat etc is another. And the place is a pigsty..... days go by before the hob's cleared of debris and fat splatters..... days go by with the same (burnt) dishes abandoned in the sink.
I also don't get the full "sharing" bit.... it's clear that this is my room and the rest is hers.... I get one tiny cupboard in the kitchen, one fridge shelf, one freezer drawer ... and it's all her stuff/family photos everywhere (hall, living room, kitchen).0
