I'm not posh. I bought a house that had lots of faults 6 years ago and still fix them as and when we can afford to. For this reason we still have orange carpet in the lounge:eek:. That'll probably get fixed next year. I'm not sure when the barbie pink carpet in the spare room will get updated though. Not the horrid grey bathroom suite. As for extending... If I'm really lucky in seven years we can start saving when the mortgage has been paid off. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Doozer, I tried promoting my builders to Jonny, no good I am afraid.
The rope has come off our ruddy woodburner again,. Plus the wood we are trying to burn is throwing out no heat whatsoever. I cannot tell what it is, but I thought it was beech. It feels more like something cruddy like willow, Honestly, we would be warmer burning cardboard.
I cannot get warm this evening and afternoon, and have been a bit gloomy as a result. I am dreading going to bed as its going to be so cold there..
Oh well, soonest warmed up soonest we can sleep.0 -

You should ask lostinrates where she found her builder, I hear they're good at that sort of thing
I know a reasonably priced planning consultant very locally to you. Only because she's dealing with our appeal now, but she does start from the beginning of the planning process too. We've used our architect for such a long time; she's great but she doesn't do appeals.
Re the fees paying for the extension - just what the Mrs has said. Mind it was her idea to move in the first place. Can't keep up with the shifting landscape!
Builders - I'll bear it in mind but we'll aim to use the same as first extension here. They were fab.
Architect/Planning - think we've got it covered already (ie who we're using) but we'll know for sure when we meet on Tuesday. Seeing someone recommended by friends.
Thanks though. Will be in touch if I need to pick your brains.0 -

Posh pros...
Architect, structual engineer and nice building team fixing the cheese room which will produce a kitchen bigger than many flats and flatlets we have lived in.
Otoh, no heating ( yet) entering third winter here, carpets older than us, and in some cases older than pn I think, and a very, very dodgy bathroom. And a hose tha was pretty structurally kaput to start with.0 -
Using random selection, my celebrity president is apparently Britney Spears!
I got John Grisham.... never heard of him.0 -

Don't think so. The meeting about the hot water cylinder big enough to boil a family of five people, or noodles for all of china is on Tuesday, and that should go In then. The boiler? Your h thinks not next wee I think.
We will live.
The boiler is massive too. If I ever kill, say.....three maybe four people, I could probably cram them in there:eek:
I wonder how much heat Bodies throw out?0 -
