Some people rave aboput the bagel shops in brick lane.

I never got round to having a Brick Lane bagel, but there was a little bagel shop in the hospital that I used to work next to. They were good, but I'm sure there are better.

Top tip: Don't bother with a curry on Brick Lane if you were tempted, as previously discussed by NP they are not all that.

I have had a brick lane bagel. My favourite bagels are from Finsbury park though. I miss bagels.

It's beautiful outside, but cold. My hands cease up when cold on new pills. It's a bit annoying, but not grevious. Not sure what I will do about icey troughs. Dh has long said my method of removing iced with bare hands is archaic, seems this year is the year I am forced to change :D

There's a great bagel place and a good bagel place between Middlesex Street flats and Petticoat Lane. They're by the sari shops there.

I hate Brick Lane. It's the no. 1 place for selling stolen bikes in Central London and the curries are rubbish, eaten by drunken City ops drones.

I miss London although I love Sydney living too.

The place has been ruined and turned into a tourist trap. I first used to go to Brick lane 35 years ago. There were only a handful of Restaurants then, and we used to use the equivalent of The Bangladeshi Transport Cafe. Meat curry and rice or veg curry and rice for a pound :D

If I'm ever in the area, I now go to an excellent Pakistani restaurant off Whitechapel.

That's just round the corner from where I used to work :D

There is a newer place round the corner (on New Road I think) called Needoo (?) which is run by ex-Tayaabs people. That was usually busy but a bit less queueing on the pavement.

I will have a look on street view and let you know my favourite place which was on Commercial Road...

Edit: here is needoo (which I am amazed to find is on New Road:

Edit no 2: My recommendation is the Lahore Kebab House (ignore the unmpromising name) on the corner of Commercial Road and Umberston Street. Handily, there is an off licence on the opposite corner ;)

Last edit: even they seem to have a website: http://www.lahore-kebabhouse.com/

I'm going for a curry tonight near where Nikkster is leaving.

We're pretty spoilt for choice locally, there are some excellent curry houses, even in the villages - especially in the villages! I hope tonights is good, the one we went to last week was just gorgeous.

    Good luck for Monday, nikki!

    Mornin NPs :)

Kab clan are off to the great city of Londinium tomorrow on the train, for a very short break.

Of course, my role in all this is as a passenger in all senses of the word. I've no idea where we are staying; where we plan to go (some museums and a Tower?); what we do about eating; etc , etc.

    I'm a veritable model of consistency ;)

Any good value suggestions in London would be welcome off the knowledgeable peeps here. I will of course try and pass these off as my own thoughts to DW, but she will suss me out instantly!
    What do you fancy?
    Olympic area? Covent Garden
    Leicester Square?
For decent grub- The Stockpot chain (non-bookable)
    Finding shops- use streetsensations.
An Oyster card's useful and take the bus from your train station rather than the tube (which is a madhouse and looks identical to Glasgow/Newcastle), and sit on the upper deck. If you're crossing the Thames, all mainline trains from Charing Cross stop at London Bridge 5 mins later (but it's not on any tube map).

Will try to think of mofre but DD's coming home today so been shifting furniture all morning.:)
