So, I saw a place and it's not "perfect", but it's fine.... and as you can only view one place/week maximum it'll have to do :)

Monday I'll tell them it'll have to do and then I go through the terrifying credit/ref checks nonsense.

It's not furnished though .... so I'll need a camping mat to sleep on and a microwave.... then I'll need to get a washing machine and small fridge/freezer after I've moved in. Oh - and a telly.

It's a 1-bed small bungalow, so, I'd use the bedroom for storage and sleep in the living room part (think 7'x'8' at a guess).

I am looking at the positives and ignoring its shortcomings....

Not that convenient really but we could probably lend you a one bedroom flats worth of furniture that we have spare - certainly have a combi-microwave barely used, a sofa, a bed (crt) TV etc etc
    I think....

Get onto freecycle and dragoon a mate to help you pick up things. you'll be amazed what;'s out there, especially if you're near any affluent neighbourhoods which I'm guessing you are.

This is the issue I have over "things" - they ain't easy to move are they.

I'll survive on what I can come up with locally. I'm used to a lot of roughing it :)

The thing is .... even if there's pickings on there you have to be superquick and I'd only be able to be glued to it at evening time.

Gumtree free's got a few things too... usually free topsoil and bricks though,

Just checked Freecycle and there is one where I'm going, but it is a small place. There's been about 6 things listed today.... so it's luck really.

Well, got the windbreak/fence up. Not stylish at all, but better than nothing and the hedge will be planted soon, so will be there in about five years, lol.

Also got three trees planted, and just as we finished my back went. Whoops! Not badly, it will be fine after a rest. Just the toils of a. Or ally active day, :).

Thrillingly, while I am a bit tired, I am not dropping and I could do more if all the bits will hold together.

Almost had a horrid accident when doing the horses rugs. Some idiot came done the road beeping his horn, the horses went loopy, two with rugs half done up (dh and I were each doing one) horses dislike flapping things, so was all a bit worrying for a few minutes.

Tomorrow we want to rake the area where we fenced and get some things we have on pots planted. The new border we will plant will give us much more privacy that the new hedge behind it for a few years I think!

    What is everyone up to?
Glad I have accumulated a collection of books to keep me company, rather than go outside?

As I have you LIR, & all nice peeps.

I'd say I'm getting there - 80%, perhaps a plus might be there too.

I've not been up to much. A fair bit of reading.

I have decided that I need to learn more about classical/orchestral music. As a music lover, I'm astounded at how little I know about classical music. I've decided that it is something I should know more about, so am trying to find out what I do like, & what I don't. I think I quite love some string arrangements, especially where they're very sweeping in their movements.

Someone I know has given me some suggestions to try out. I need to listen to options & fine tune my likes list...

What has everyone else been up to?

Are the nice peeps planning to do things on bonfire night?

No .... they charge £5-6 to stand in the cold and look up .... anybody that interested can stand within a mile and look up for free :) - but I've no desire to stand, alone, in a street and look up in the cold.

I don't live near the DVLA office anymore,We live about 20. Minutes north, but you are right, our barn we had is about three minutes away from the DVLA's barn :)

I'm 5 minutes away from said DVLA barn, but the other side compared to doozers barn.

Didn't think it was too cold today. Lovely in the sun this afternoon. Hedge all cut. Looks great. :)
