I had a classical music education.

Although overplayed I love Vivaldi 's four seasons. The summer suite, the Final movement, the 'summer rain storm' is the most sensual piece of music. I find it quite a turn on tbh. (as I do real summer storms' my favourite weather, it makes me feel alive)

jan garbarek and Officium, classical soprano sax, a modern piece is also well known for a reason. Its spine tingling.

When I was little and being naughty I would only go to sleep to the Trout, not a restful piece of music, and i am not a Schubert fan now so....

No .... they charge £5-6 to stand in the cold and look up .... anybody that interested can stand within a mile and look up for free :) - but I've no desire to stand, alone, in a street and look up in the cold.

I will be cuddling my new puppy:j. My animals are all ok with fireworks, the cats actively love them, sit and watch them from the windows. But the puppy might be scared. Animals get used to big bangs round here, thanks to the MoD

    Mornin NPs :)

Kab clan are off to the great city of Londinium tomorrow on the train, for a very short break.

Of course, my role in all this is as a passenger in all senses of the word. I've no idea where we are staying; where we plan to go (some museums and a Tower?); what we do about eating; etc , etc.

    I'm a veritable model of consistency ;)

Any good value suggestions in London would be welcome off the knowledgeable peeps here. I will of course try and pass these off as my own thoughts to DW, but she will suss me out instantly!

    2 suggestions:

for an evening, one of the jack the ripper walks - but be careful. The Don Rumbelow one:

    or Richard Jones:
    http://www.jack-the-ripper-walk.co.uk/
are the only 2 I'd seriously recommend.

Also, London Dungeons. Pricey, but a great time (provided you don't have tiny easily scared nippers with you...)

Round here, it's about £4 for a huge fire & what has been for 3 years at least, a brilliant display.

I'm happy to spend that £4, as I think I get phenomenal VFM...

I've a list of 10/11 suggestions. I know Elgar is on there twice (enigma variations being one - I love nimrod...)

There's so much good stuff out there, it really is a matter of refining where to look...

Well, if I were really going to start from base then I would probably listen to classic fm ( a terrible radio station IMO) for the main 'thematic' tunes and see what I want to hear the entirity of.

Alternatively, radio three is eXCELLENT. I often hear new to me stuff on radio three, where as classic fm is a bit 'cliched' but excellent for inspiring an interst on where to listen more too iyswim.

One of my gripes is how expensive some of the recordings I want to hear are, a few on my wish list are around fifty quid :(. I will be waiting a long time.

Lovely to have you back, lemonjelly.

Is the Beethoven violin concerto on your list?
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    What is everyone up to?
Glad I have accumulated a collection of books to keep me company, rather than go outside?

We Have missed you LJ and very much hope for more of the pleasure of your company. We have had several old friend drop in of late which is always nice although we seem to have scared off a few new regulars too ( middymum we miss you).

I'm really pleased you are getting the chance to read, I am doing a little on my hated commute and it helps to take the edge off it.
    I think....
