Not given connecting rooms

Have you even read how old the children are??? They are 3 and 5, you can't put them in a room by themselves.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I think you are quite right to need adjoining rooms - my kids weren't happy to be in a non interconnecting room until the eldest was in his teens and happy to look after the others (and happy to use the phone etc)..
Young kids do tend to get up at night and wonder to their parents room - great ... so they will find themselves in a hotel corridor... ugh.
really hope you sort this out TBH it is the reason that I never stayed in a hotel with the kids for more than one night while travelling - always booked self catering..0 -

Wouldn't they only be by themselves at night when they would be sleeping and all of the family would be back at the hotel anyway?
Or a short term solution would be to designate a parent to each room until an alternative adjoining room becomes available.
Regarding the situation - the reality is that nobody on this forum can do anything about it - the only party able to resolve this is the hotel - and that is where I would be targeting my annoyance - not on here because it will get you nowhere.0 -

Small children, in strange bedrooms, are quite likely to wake up in the night and wonder where their mum is. They often do not sleep the same as at home.
I bet you'd be the first to complain if you were woken up in the night by a screaming 3yo who had gone to look for her mum, shut herself out of her own hotel room and couldn't tell which identical door her mum was in.
Can you imagine the uproar? Wicked mother leaves children alone in room.
And why should OP wait until she gets there in the hope that the hotel might have connecting rooms available and sort it herself?
The TA mis-sold her the holiday, the TA messed it up, it's their responsibility to sort it, they can't just tell her hey-ho, never mind.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Did they really?
The Op keeps mentioning a request for a room type not a gaurantee
I didnt think any hotel would gtee any room type before arrival
It may be that one parent will have to sleep with the kids0 -

Yes, they did.
She asked for rooms that could be requested as connecting, that is not what they have sold her. With the room type they sold her connecting rooms are an impossibility, they don't exist.
See the difference.
They should have told her at the time of booking that the inter-connectable rooms were sold out, so that she could chose to have separate rooms or cancel, not just book the rooms she specifically said she didn't want, with no consultation.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

You are though, completely.
Having kids so young alone in a room is not acceptable. Anyone could enter the room during the night knowing they would not have an adult to deal with. I would not sleep a wink. I would be cancelling my card payment if I didn't get the interconnecting rooms.0
