Lol i want to share a room with my kids...
What i want is the travel agent to see that they missold me the rooms they have.
The connecting room are available on different type rooms
they only have to change 1 room to what the hotel offer
connecting rooms too
Im not paying anymore than i have...
They have 9wks of me ringing them and going into the shop
Its a holiday ive paid alot for and what they have sold cannot
be done by the hotel... quite simple really...
Its like being sold a barking dog.... that dont bark....Comping & Coupons!0 -
If i have read it right
The hotel does have connecting rooms but were sold out at time of booking,
The Op was then sold another type of room (were they cheaper) but with no connecting ability but the TA said they would request anyway, the agent probably didnt know that and was just paying lipservice which I agree was wrong
Did the Op check on the confirmation what type of room had been sold?
If all connecting rooms are now full what does the OP want,
As i said before its not a massive problem for the parents to split up is it?
Of course in an ideal world the connecting rooms would be answer
No i booked in March... the rooms wasnt sold out
they told me the rooms i booked where connecting
but since finding out from the hotel these room types
cannot be connected.
It has to be 1 suite and 1 bedroom suite
they booked me 2 suitesComping & Coupons!0 -
Hi Demented Housewife,
Feeling really sorry for you. So many people seem to not be able to understand how big an issue this would be when on holiday with young children.
Firstly, please check all your documentation to see if the connecting doors are mentioned. If not, its your word against the travel agents.
Secondly, have you checked your cancellation terms. Before you make any sort of decision, you need to know exactly what you are dealing with, & how much it wil cost you.
Then you need to do some more research, & see if its possible to book with confirmed connecting doors at that resort, if so, what the price would be?
Is there a resort/hotel next door with equally as good facilities that is available with connecting doors at an acceptable price?
After you have all the information, its up to you if your willing to take a hit on the price or not. Having travelled with small children, connecting doors / a suite is certainly something I would consider as pretty much essential.
Good luck. Hope you can do some good research & find a good solution0 -
Surely you wouldn't leave the room unlocked?
Sorry Dunroamin but that is rather a naive view.
I think you will find that the door was locked when a certain little one went missing in Portugal.
Apart from that, anything could happen, one of the children could be taken ill, the hotel could catch fire.
I would want my children in view and right there in case of an emergency.0 -

No, but that doesn't alter the situation, and if it is locked what happens in case of fire? What happens if one child leaves the taps running? What happens in case of any type of accident? What happens if an unscrupulous staff member with a pass key decides to go calling? All unlikely, but still not risks I would take.
It is unacceptable to me in view of their ages. If we were talking about older children being across the hall or in an adjacent room that would be another issue, but not at 3&5 years old in a locked room in a strange hotel. I am with PO I don't understand how anyone could consider it acceptable.0 -

I do understand where you are coming from the TA appears to have made a mistake, but to correct it would mean charging you for a 1 bed suite as opposed to a suite, which I am guessing is more money.
Why are you not prepared to pay extra as if the TA had done the job properly in the first place it would have been more at the time0 -
You cant have it allways, the doors would be open between rooms anyway so hardly private
I only have one child and he always shared a room with us when we went away, never saw it as a hardship
Yes shared a room with you both, not just one of you.
If I remember correctly the Op would be happy to have one room for them all.
It is about being with her husband.0 -

Sorry, I just don't go through life expecting awful things to happen all the time.
Wouldn't a baby alarm cover many of those sorts of eventuality anyway?0 -

The TA mis-sold her the holiday, the TA messed it up, it's their responsibility to sort it, they can't just tell her hey-ho, never mind.
I think it is important here before making accusations of 'mis-sold' or the TA 'messing up'. I am not suggesting the OP is not telling the whole story - what I am implying is that there may have been some misunderstanding on how room allocations work and some miserpretation by the OP - We don't know.
We are only hearing one side of the story here and who knows, the TA may have pulled a fast one, but even she had no control of the allocation of adjoining rooms - that will be down to the hotel and will certainly not be guaranteed. All the TA can do is forward a request - and it seems that is what she has done.
And why should the OP sort this out herself? - for the simple reason I alluded to earlier, If you want something doing properly, do it yourself!
I would suggest the OP waits and see what the TA comes up with in relation to resolving this - as I understand there is 9 weeks to departure, so hopefully something can be sorted out.
Without causing more concerns - you do know that certain airlines cannot guarantee seats together? - unless you pay for the privilege.
Something you may need to consider if your children are separated.0
