Pleased to help0 -
I've just read through your post, and thought I have to leave a comment.
I really hope they fix this for you. Of course splitting up your family isn't acceptable if it's not what you have booked. I don't think people understand that you plan to be in one room with your husband, with the door open and the kids in the other room. If they split you up one adult will have to be in each room. Hardly a romantic getaway!
Good luck,0 -

Ermmmm and what is also the crux of the problem - she should have realised that the type of room she paid for may or may not have a connecting door.
The room type advertised in the brochure will very likely be described as something like a double standard, or deluxe or similar - what it won't be described as is 'connecting'.
She will have received the class of room she paid for.
Of course the travel agent will promise the earth to get the booking - that is why I never use them - if she believes everything a travel agent tells her, well she has learnt the hard way0 -

How could she have realised?
She asked the TA for connecting rooms, the TA said yes, the TA booked the wrong room type that are not available as connecting rooms. She trusted the TA to book what she asked, and thought, she'd paid for. How on earth should she have realised that the TA got it wrong?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
How exactly should i have realised..???
Ive not been there before... the travel agent said
connecting rooms were avail and she has put thru the request

But she did not do her job correctly in ringing ahead first...
The hotels connecting rooms are different room types...

I don't intend to be 'Nasty Nick' and if you feel that way then I apologise - what many may suggest is that you were naive in believing someone who was about to take 6 grand off you!
I will reiterate:dickydonkin wrote: »Of course the travel agent will promise the earth to get the booking - that is why I never use them - if she believes everything a travel agent tells her, well she has learnt the hard way
I sometimes (very rarely) use Expedia for hotel bookings - I get my room type and pay for it. I wait a couple of days and I contact the hotel directly to make sure they have received my booking and I ask (very nicely) for specific room requests. If they don't have them - well they cannot magic them out of the blue - but again, they just cannot guarantee a specific feature (connecting door, preferred view/floor) for a generic room type.
Most times these are honoured - but I always get the response that the requests just cannot be guaranteed.
Consider the old adage - if you want something doing properly - do it yourself - Many High Street travel agents are only after the sell.
Just to add regarding Expedia:
I recently booked a room for 3 nights in Vancouver through Expedia and specifically requested for a room WITHOUT a connecting door - I did as described above and the hotel replied stating they would try to honour my request - but on this occasion they didn't.
I asked the next day if another room was available - yes sir, no problem. The room was changed and on my return from a trip, my luggage was in my new room (same type I paid for - just without the connecting door). Perhaps the OP could try this once at the destination as rooms will become available on a daily basis I suspect.0 -
I understand that...But i did my booking with this company
as my sister and her family are going to be there too...
And First Choice are the only travel agent that do this hotel
as a package holiday.
We booked with them as they said we would be ok to have the
connecting rooms.. i feel let down now...
All i wanted was my husband and i and our 3 kids to have a great
time..
We hardly spend any time together as a family as we run our own business working from 5am to 11pm each night.. and hubby goes on
call most morns at 5am
Just wanted not to be spilt up and sleeping without any member of
my family does not make me feel excited at all nowComping & Coupons!0 -

Again, don't let this eat at you - it will put you on a downer before a great holiday.
I can understand your concerns - but looking at it from the kids perspective, tell them that they can have a room to themselves away from you - providing they behave themselves - they might look at this as being treated as grown ups - but lay the law down.
Hopefully you will get this resolved before you go - if not, try to contact the hotel directly and see what happens - but don't let this spoil your holiday - it's not ideal for you - I understand that - but generally, won't this situation only affect the nights of you holiday?

I cant let a 3, 5, 5 be alone in a room
they would trash it and my little girl would scream her head off all night.
She isnt a good sleeper at home, always climbs in my bed at 5.30
she would be in dispare if she woke in a whole different room and no mummy!Comping & Coupons!0
