Not given connecting rooms

Booked a holiday a few months back with First Choice to go to Jamaica
We were forced to book 2 rooms as we have 5yr old twins and a 3 yr old.
We were told the rooms were connecting...

a month later we added on my neice to come too who is 18

When checking with my family member who is going on a seperate booking said
we need to email to confirm our room i was a little stunned as i said we had already been told
we would get connecting rooms.

I checked all forms ect but nothing there
so called the travel agent spoke to the manager who said no we dont have connecting rooms
as she was unable to speak to the girl who did the booking and she couldnt get through to the
hotel in Jamaica.

I rang jamaica ( got straight through ) to be told we wont get connecting rooms and they will only be close
together... as room types were different...

I spoke to travel agent ... asked her why???? i wouldnt of booked a holiday to be seperated
from my family when we have paid nearly 6k!
She said it was my word agaisnt the girl who booked it...
this is a joke... i wouldnt of booked to have my husband in a different room for a week.

I need help as they dont seem interested now they have my money and im stuck with something
i didnt want
She says she cant call me tomoz as busy in a meeting...
Head Office said they wont deal with as its a shop booking and they dont do retail..

Very unhappy at the moment... :-(

If you have to unlock a door to get into the other room does it really matter if it's 50mm or 10 meters away? It's just like having a normal house instead of a 'new-build hutch' if it's in the next resort maybe it's not so good.

Of course it matters!
My kids are 5,5,3
i dont pay 6k to be across the hall from each other
Connecting rooms means i can have the door open if
my children get upset in the night ect.
Cant do that if we are in seperate rooms...

I guess you dont have small children then!

op thats is terrible:eek:. I can totally understand why your so mad. Having to split up your family on holiday like that is ridicoulious.

I got split from my 3 and 5 year old on the coach back from my holiday and it was a right pain.

Worse was the bleeding idiot got up and and separate me from my boys as they were getting off the coach so they would have been unsupervised getting off if I hadn't said something.

I WAS SMALL CHILD ONCE!
I am a parent and a room down the hall would be close enough!!!!

Im really upset about it.
When we booked it the girl even phoned ahead to see if we
could just book 1 room and squeeze me, hubby and 3 kids in 1 room
but they said no.
She assured me we would be together...
We have paid such alot of money... Night times are gonna be awful
As me n hubby will have to sleep apart the whole week.

It is annoying, and like you, I would not feel comfortable having the 3 children sleeping on their own.

This has happened to us once before and we all squashed into the one room, leaving the other room (which we had paid for) completely empty. Its a bit ridiculous when you have paid for it though.

We took one of the ready beds for one of the children to sleep on. I think they cost around £25.

Bob there is a difference in being a small child and having a small child.
And besides thats how Maddy McCann went missing ... because no one was watching her..
Im not an irresponsible parent who lets their children sleep in a

Where were her parents?

Not in a room next door or just down the passage. I'm NOT suggesting you do what they did. Or get pi**ed in a restaurant and sort of ignore them.

Whether it be 5 yards or 20 yards...
Ive paid a hell of a lot of money to be told one thing
and then to find out ill be getting something i did not agree too.

I want my family in 1 room... or connecting with doors open...
So i can check on them... and my daughter will be very unsettled
in a different place...

But i really dont expect you to understand... by sounds of it you wouldnt give a flying fish where your children were... 5 yrds...10yrds
or even the full 130yrds!
