EGG - PPI Claim upheld but still no cheque!
Comments

I just thought I'd let you know about my experience with Canada Square Operations. I received a letter from them in March advising me that they thought I had been mis-sold PPI on my credit card with Egg. They asked me to fill the form in and return it, so my claim could be assessed. At the end of April I received a letter stating that my claim had been upheld and to complete the attached form so that the cheque could be issued. I returned the form and a confirmation letter arrived on the 11th May, the letter was dated the 9th May, it said to expect a cheque within 20 working days, which is around the 8th June. To my delight my cheque turned up yesterday! I was a bit dubious about Canada Square Operations after reading the posts on here, maybe I was lucky as I had no problems at all! Now what to spend the money on?0

I filed a PPI claim with Egg (Canada Square Operations) for my current loans and credit card.
In Feb 2013 they wrote to me saying they had approved my claim and that a) a cheque would be in the post me and b) they would contact my loans company Moorgate to revise the interest on my loan and remove the PPI element.
After two letters sent to them by recorded delivery (which they have signed for) in April and May this year to date they have still not paid up or adjusted my loans.
I have called the Financial Ombudsman for advice and they said it would take over 18 months to get to my complaint if I filed one!!!! These guys are a joke and the banks know that they are toothless:mad:
Please advise as to what I can do as I have there letter in my hand saying that they are going pay. So half a year has passed and they have still not paid up. I've never really being a 'fighter' but they have really annoyed me now... Is there any way I can seek legal redress in the County court or any court?
I was miss-sold PPI and Egg admitted that, but they refuse to pay me my well earned money back.
Anyone please help??? Martin are you able to create a class action against Egg (Canada Square Operations)???0 -
The FOS is not a joke. The FOS is not about being toothless as that is not their remit.I have called the Financial Ombudsman for advice and they said it would take over 18 months to get to my complaint if I filed one!!!! Not on an adjudicator ruling but you can on an ombudsman ruling. In Feb 2013 they wrote to me saying they had approved my claim and that a) a cheque would be in the post me and b) they would contact my loans company Moorgate to revise the interest on my loan and remove the PPI element.
That is interesting as it suggests you wouldn't be getting the bulk of the money. Just an interest element and premiums paid to date.I was miss-sold PPI and Egg admitted that, but they refuse to pay me my well earned money back.
Have they contacted you to refuse to pay out?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Can ANYBODY help us regarding making a complaint about the incompetence of this company? My husband has had his complaint upheld (they contacted him!), yet getting this money refunded is proving impossible! Any help would be gratefully received.0

Thanks for your reply. As you can see from my frustration. I am powerless to do anything.
By the way they are (well if they do...0 will give me the bulk of the money as my loans are still outstanding. And no they (Egg/Canada Square Operations) contacted me to refuse to pay out, but when they admitted 'liability' in earlier this year and it is now July, the mind boggles that something can take so long....0 -

I understand your frustration but it is misdirected if you point it at the FOS. Indeed, just earlier tonight an email came through from Citywire saying a firm had been struck off by the FCA for not paying out on an upheld complaint with the FOS.
Refunds on PPI are really slow with some companies. It is not ideal but the sheer volume of complaints means some are taking far longer than they should. So, be frustrated and angry and remember it next time you want to do business in that area and avoid the company. Bad mouth the company etc as you see fit. For the time being that is all you can do. I would also diarise monthly follow ups with the FOS to let them know you still havent been paid out. The FOS will take action but they know there are delays and will give the firms a little more rope than normal.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Any one dealing with canada square operations !!
ive just recived my cheque which i should of got back in march !!
basicaly they upheld my claim told me to sign the form then i would get the cheque in 20 working days !!
this was in febuary this year waited till april as theres no phone number on any of there letters ( which is odd ) wrote a letter no reply .
waited another few weeks . wrote another letter to ian clark ( surposidly the manager ) recorded delievry so i know they got it .
NO REPLY .
so contacted ombudsman who got hold of them and made them pay me .
just got cheque last week . so 20 working days eneded up being 5 months !
if anyone else is having problems with these guys go to the ombudsman its the only way youll get your cash which your entitled to .
the more peps that do it highlights the problem so the ombudsman can act against them .
thet should be fined or on watch dog or somthing .
my wife got hers from barclays within 2 wks !
They said on my leter they must of being an admin error yeah right seems to be happening alot by the sounds of things
good luck to all you guys n girls out there !0 -
I filled in the paperqork for this and sent proof of new address they sent me a letter then confirming they owed me money and if I got the bank to sign mh bank statement and send it back it would then take 20 days to send me the cheque. I did this and signes the acceptance letter. Then I got a letter saying the case was closed they decided nothing was done wrong I am owed nothing. Surely they cant send you an acceptance agreement and then take it back0

They can if there wasn't. If you disagree with their decision, you can complain to the FOS.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
