Hi Annie! : )
@Happy; those companies make me so angry, like the amigo one. My friends are mostly my age or younger (re-did my AS levels) and most are naive about these things so it just makes them confused.0 -
Well good day to you ladies and gents!!
Having written the NOvember epic I came out of work to ice on my bike:eek:. This means only one thing - slippy slippy bike wheels! This makes me realise that I need to update my spreadsheet to include at least a weeks worth of train travel ( £65 ) to work.. the annoying thing is, is that for one day its almost £20.
If the ice is bad I can't take the bike in... if I book a week I am gutted if the sun shines on day 4 and I can take the bike as its a waste of money on a week train ticket... if I don't book a weekly train ticket sod's law states that the ice will be really bad, the weather man will say something completely different like 20deg sunshine and I will waste money buying "daily" tickets.
Why can't our weather behave, give me an idea of what I am up against and let me assume the "Day After Tomorrow" weather of epic proportions will only happen ON THE WEEKEND!!!
However on a happier note I have got the bread machine going filling the kitchen with yummy smells. I have also made cup-cakes and am debating whether I should attempt to cover them with only 25g of butter and some caster sugar with coco powder...hmmmm
I failed in an NSD today as I needed milk and eggs. I was conscious of using my landladies milk all the time. I also got a few items bringing my total to £6.03..( que vomiting from me ).. knowing full well it would be less at the larger Tescos although the petrol to get there would out-weigh the difference.. then I trudged to Co-op for 1.5kg flour for £1.05.
At least I didn't wear make-up out to "save it"...:rotfl:. I still have that sample given to me in Boots a week or so ago... and I don't want to buy an actual bottle of it this month...
By the way I am sat in my kitchen in my Berghaus walking coat and fleece... I am even saving the landladies heating... not for long though.. I technically pay for it...
With the aforementioned NOvember challenge looming I am determine to eat properly and save the "nibbley bits" I have for when I am out all day and need snacks. Apparently Tesco cheese puffs are not a healthy dinner...who knew....
MissLadyAnnie a very big welcome to you. Thank you for your comments and its good to have you along for the ride whether partaking or [STRIKE]stalking[/STRIKE] lurking...:p Tell how much you owe and to whom or get a signature up and running... it'll keep you even more on track when people SEE what you owe and what progress you are making...
( bread hit the top of the machine - me thinks I added to much yeast ..whoopsie...)
Happy & Killer - ( sounds like a detective show )... I was literally thinking the same thing about those companies yesterday. I can't remember which it was but defo one of the ones warned about on here... it was 1734% APR....:eek::eek:. I just don't understand how they get away with it but I guess if there is a demand for it what can the government do. Its sites like these that need to EDUCATE the masses..
Killer how much has your friend saved...? Any debts as well..?
Heffi1.. you are the only other person who has mentioned knowing about Bzz... I will keep you posted!
Right I gotta go eat something yummy from my trough of left-overs and ice the un-iceable cupcakes with something that's edible...:p“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. I will be interested to hear how you get on with bzz, I was really keen at first, but I grew tired, also I didn't get too many things to try out, there was a razor with a little soaped head on it, the idea being not to use shaving foam, well I tend to use shower gel anyway so did not buy any after it ran out, it was quite good, but the price of the item was outside my budget so I never got round to actually buying one:o
I think there was a thread on here about it, I am not sure if it still exists, I shall go and have a look around and report back.
I found it, it is 238 pages long

I didn't realise that bikes had problems with ice but... I've never thought about it. Um good luck?
Cheese puffs make an excellent dinner! >.<
My friend has no debts and a lot of money owed to her by her dad. But it's so unlikely she'll get it back that she's written off the money, he became unemployed due to his attitude (he has been on more sensitivity training than I have changed my socks) then refused to take on any job under his station, then attempted to bleed my friend and her mum dry. My friend was paying for their food, mortgage and half of their bills plus rent! But my friend does have an impressive deposit for her age and situation (i.e any at all!) since she's on a studentship.
There was a shop open up near me with the tagline "we lend on anything" and they lend on logbooks which I hadn't even heard of! I dread to think of the interest!0 -
Evening all, it feels later than 6 o'clock - I missed the extra hour in bed last night cos I was working but I really feel it now...although, I think that's only cos I got hungry earlier!
Ha ha kat, I do the same thing with saving make up :rotfl::rotfl: Same with my good clothes - I don't want to wear my good jeans because then I'll have to wash them sooner and they'll fade. Instead I run around in my holey, patched up things, makeup-less. My favourite one though, is using the shower at the gym to save electricity at home :rotfl:
What a pain about the train ticket. Other than relying on the weatherman, is there another way around it? From a selfish point of view, maybe you should buy the train ticket so that sods law can kick in and we can enjoy the sunshine :cool2:
Killer, I have joined Maximiles. It seems to take ages to get anywhere, but I just cashed out another £10 voucher last week so I'll keep at it. I WILL get my head round Swagbucks, I just never seem to have the time to get started. Maybe on one of my NOvember NSDs......
Had a spendy day today doing some final October food shopping. I have enough food for the week and still have £3.54 left from my budget so that bodes well for the NOvember challenge! I usually have a £100 food budget (£50 cash and £50 Asda Giftcard which I get 5% off through a scheme at work) so, in preparation for next month, I ordered a £50 Giftcard and only have £30 cash. It's all withdrawn and sitting in my 'Food' purse. Normally I do all of this on payday - I work out how much I need and transfer the rest out of my account when I've been paid. This time it's a bit backwards because of my shortfall in wages. I'll get paid on Tuesday but have to transfer money IN this time to cover the bills so I've just used the money I made/saved in the last few weeks and got the ball rolling a few days early. Petrol card is ordered as well (also a 5% discount), same amount as usual but I'll definitely be keeping an eye on my MPG to make it last as long as possible.
I've worked out my November budget and, since it's all going to go according to plan, I have a £7.21 buffer which I will hang on to just incase something crops up that I didn't budget for (not that you can get much with £7.21 so it better be a small emergency!) and anything else I make during the month will go straight to the Virgin Credit Card
Feeling very positive about NOvember, if a little scared about the NSD part  I tried to work out which 5 days would be my spendies and I counted 7 :rotfl: That's okay though, that's why it's called a challenge! It's only one month out of my life..although, who knows where it might lead!!
So, other than plotting and food shopping (worth noting fellow NOvemberites, Sunday afternoon at a Farmer's Market is a great time for veg shopping! I was running out of hands so the guy gave me a carrier bag and when I was done, he just had a look in the bag and said £2Would have cost at least 4 times that in the supermarket.
Oh yeah, other than plotting and food shopping, I've just been ebay watching. I'll be parcelling and relisting tonight once my auctions end. I dug out a few other things to list tonight but just missed the daylight for taking photos (even after getting an extra hour) so I'll just start the listings and add the photos tomorrow. The money, of course is going straight to the credit card. I could be starting November with my Virgin Card sub £500 if tonight goes well. Please tell me going to the Post Office doesn't count as a spend? All I'm doing is paying the PO what someone is paying me to post so technically I'm the middleman rather than the spender!
Oh, and one last piece of news from me, the chair back up lady wantsto come on Tuesday to pick up the chair - another £10 in the pot hopefully!0 -
For SB I have it opened in several tabs while doing something else >.> like reading MSE. I've gotten over 150sb today.
I never make up, the last time I wore any was my brother's wedding and someone else put it on me. I don't have the dexterity in my hands anymore.
My monthly spend on food is £0 :rotfl:. At uni it used to be about £15 a week because I don't feel hunger so when I'm living on my own I eat once a day or less.
Your ebaying appears to be going well!0 -
Well I have made another few pennies on eBay and out-done my total for October. I am amazed what can be done when I put my mind to it. AND I have a lot more I want to sell..so on top of the wondrous NOvember I am going to sign up to ( get this ) another challenge of £10 per day in November...
Siouxsie I have never thought that Farmers Markets around me are that cheap. I am however going to head to the local farm for my eggs.. I refuse to buy cheap eggs cause I love chicky chick chickens and hate how they are treated.. but the organic / free-range ones are getting expensive and I would rather keep our local farmers going..
I too have to get out of my delightfully warm bed ( with hot water bottle ) and parcel up a few eBay items. I have decided to leave all my money in PayPal in November so I can transfer a lovely lump sum all at once. But I am plotting food more than anything as this is what gets me angry / upset / happy / satisfied / etc...:rotfl:
Maximiles is looking a lot more user friendly than SB. I am going to join it tonight and see what I can do. I am yet to earn anything from these sights and SB just annoyed me no end so I shall leave it for the night...
I shall see how Bzzagent goes but I am not holding my breath, another MSE friend though got a massive box of goodies..
Siouxsie glad you chair is going.. I have a 42inch Plasma TV Screen that I am going to list in November along with a home theatre system that is very old. I will aim for £50 each on them.. but again I am not holding my breath as they have been posted about 3 times each...
Right.. I am going to look into a railcard that is £28 for the year but gives you 1/3 all tickets booked, plus I buy them through TrainLine via Boots Treat Street and get the points...:p.. I love this when you get it going and know all the routes...
I'll be writing more tomorrow..
Onwards and Upwards!!!!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. I going to join you all for the ride if you dont mind?!
My aim is to pay off both Natwest credit cards by next April, without checking one is around £1100 and the other £1350. I can clear hopefully at least one of these no problems as I am fortunate to have a second job which brings in around £300-400 per month, but sadly this is coming to an end in April 2013, so my aim is to get ebaying, facebooking and generally money saving all round!
First stop is to put my son's curtains and duvet sets onto Ebay and have a look into selling books back to Amazon. I noticed one that I have got was worth £6.50!! The others mainly 25ps. Can you tell me who pays the postage when you send them to Amazon please?Nov NSD: 8/7 Dec NSD: 1/10Sealed pot member #1443 2011: £106. 2012: £171Ninjakat challenge: Aim to clear two debts by April 2013100 day challenge: No toiletries or magazines 19/100 (3 x fails)
