Hi Kat just popping in! I love your thread but also I don't have too much to add! I'm in the saving for a deposit mode at the moment because I found this website before I got into debt (so far!) and really want to be able to buy my own place oneday!
Congrats on the reduced bike insurance!! What a weight off your mind! I really admire your enthusiasm! Ive seen a girl on a yellow bike in London twice now at about 8.30 by the city... Is this you? I kinda guess not because you go to work really early but I saw this person and thought of you!!
Interested to see your NOvember rules!0 -
WELL now! I have been up for 21 hours and don't feel as rough as I thought I would. I have come home with £13 left in my purse from my £80 limit this week. YES!!!..
£25 on dinner ( this was including two drinks, two "nibbles", a starter, a main, a side and some change which I left in the pot ).. not bad I say!! However I had to get a taxi to my friends house where I had left my bike as she was staying out - this cost me £11.60. I was not happy about this at all - money was added on as it was passed 2300 too! I do think the taxi driver diddled me out of 40p! Grr!
However I came home to my £25 cheque from Confused.com so am very happy. This will go straight to the bike loan...Another £21 due to bidding on eBay.. so making £46 for technically doing nothing makes me feel rather special! Lol!
I shall write more to you all tomorrow - has been some revelations regarding debts, feelings and general involvement which is superb...
Tinkerbel - whatever you got just add it on. We like to hear from new people...( ...despite my bike being all black I like that you are thinking of me and in turn more alert to the presence of bikers....)..
Heffi1 - you'll wanna join in I am sure of it..:D
Good Night all and Happy Sunday to you all...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -
Morning everyone :hello: How's you Saturday? Is the sun shining where you are?
I hope you had a good night katWell done for coming home with money :j Boo to the taxi though - It's one thing to choose to spend £11.60 on something you want, quite another to have to spend it - still, it got you back to your bike safely so that's £11.60 well spent
What are everyone elses MSE plans for the weekend? Like kat, I'm working the nightshift tonight (not overtime though)so I'll probably have 2 NSDs. I'll pack enough food to see me through the night (including some chocolate for that 3am can't go on moment!).
Glad the confused.com cheque arrived - that was quick, it said within 28 days! Maybe I'll get mine next week sometime
My payslip finally got published today - hurrah! This is normally when I do my money shuffle, but it's so tight this month I'll do a bit more calculating just in case I've forgotten anything before I transfer the rest to my Virgin Credit Card! And of course, that's exactly where the confused.com cheque will go when it arrives. Ebay's doing not bad - if none of my watchers bid I'll still net at least £20 so, although it's not a lot, it all helps!
Enjoy the sunshine everyone0 -
[disclaimer: I am recovering from a migraine from hell so my information intake is poor at best]
Wow, congrats on the insurance/paying off thingy kat. : )
Siouxsie: your friend sounds a little bit misguided, hopefully she'll be ok. 2 full time jobs sounds... scary.
Hi tinkerbel!
NOvember is err not on my radar purely because I've only just become single again and there might be lots of flirting going on :A
I have news though! Thursday I got 2 interview invites in a couple of hours, fingers crossed.0 -
Well a very good evening to you all. Yes my apologies for the fault above it is indeed SATURDAY and not Sunday. Was a little tired last night..:)
So I slept in until around 1300, got up to tidy my room, then hit the hay again for three hours before heading to work. All this while thinking through rulles and regulations for NOvember realizing I am probably going to regret signing up for this myself never mind you lot..:p
Killer - why can you not MSE and flirt at the same time... it hasn't stopped me!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:But a massive congratulations on the interview invites. Fingers crossed for you!!
Siouxie - I have created a sumptuous concoction of delights to keep me alive and concentrating through the night. I like nights though as I know I am earning while others snooze, I ain't missing anything and I am WIDE awake now!!! Can't wait until my cheque clears to transfer straight to my BIKE loan! Well done on eBaying though.. I made £8 today with a few more things ending tomorrow probably hitting me with another £21 minimum.
And yes your friend sounds like she needs to wait until she REALLY realizes the mess she is in otherwise you will be beating your head against the wall. I dye my own hair, cut it once a year when I home in Ireland at Christmas.. use Imperial Leather soap to wash everything and am refusing to spend money on any more products until I have everything finished - are you not seriously frustrated with her?
LIke you Siouxsie I need to hit my "spreadsheet" tomorrow with a big stick. Need to make provisions for a £4 entry to the local firework display next Saturday - ha ha!
Happy - You are right when people think its OK to have some debt - cause everyone else does - right? But I hate owing money to a bank, or ayone for that matter. I am glad you husband is as lovely as he sounds and I truly think there has to be some reward in there somewhere. I just can't justify that £200 Micheal Kors Rose Gold watch I am after just yet..:D
So what am I gong to do..???
I NEED to collate a deposit for a house. London houses are way out of my reach but following this debt riddance I might save to travel. I have a 6 month route that will take me through Europe, up via Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan and onto Russia... via the Tran-Siberian which I have done before I will head to Vladiovstock and take a ferry to japan for the cherry blossom season then onto Australia to see family - then fly home. Needless to say this will cost a bit. When I did the Tran-Siberian before I worked like a demon and saved £5000 in 9 months - and I came home with £700.
But that was a lot of work! And I really and truly want my own home. There is a choice to buy back home with prices around £30,000 for a 3 bed cottage near my parents. I want rid of my debt so if I can't get tenants I can cover the £250 a month mortgage..:rotfl:
I am not adverse to finding a special someone though. I would love to be married and have a husband that is just as money savvy but is willing to live a slightly unconventional life. Travelling, biking, growing our own vegetables... the normal things every girl wants! LOL! Right now though I am all about money saving, then when I am clear of all debts I would like to spend a considerable amount on updating my wardrobe - something that hasn't been revamped in a LONG time.
As I have mentioned before I feel a lot for the women during the WW2 and love dressing vintage. The "make do and mend" mentality has clearly disappeared in todays society but when I saw display cabinets of the clothes that the girls wore, how to stitch and repair socks, etc I am determined to do the same with my clothes...
So tomorrow I am going to have a little look at my wardrobe and see what can be salvaged, created, stitch, embellished and created. Sounds like fun I say... this will be after a proper old snooze though....
So what are everyone's plans for Sunday..( today?).. I shall be getting NOvember together ladies so hopefully I will put the link in here somewhere for when you awake...:o“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Well now... I have completed Bzzagent's subscription and all there surveys. They are very brief so I whipped through them. I am determined to score as many free beauty products as possible from now on.. they apparently need your feed back though!
My friend got a massive box of John Frieda goodies to try...Jealous much..
I have also used my credit on Amazon from my book trade-in to buy a heavy duty, fluff lined, waterproof cover for Hercules the Motorbike.. he is exposed to the elements and needs to be suitably covered as the weather is getting horrific!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Just signed up for the NOvember challenge  Looks like I better get to grips with swagbucks PDQ cos I need boots for winter and using free Amazon vouchers is the only way I'll be paying for them
Sleep time for me (with a hot water bottle rather than having the heating on)...speak to you all a bit later zzzzzzz

I have signed up too.
I joined buzzagent years ago, but could not get on with it, it felt a bit like the Spanish inquisition when I spoke to my friends about the products I got, I keep getting reminder emails though so I suppose I could log in and see if anything has changed. hmm will ponder this one for a while.Been here for a long time and don't often post

Siouxsie: Have you joined up to maximiles if you're getting on with SB? You can "watch and rate" adverts for just over a penny each time. There are occasionally these little polls for just over 1p, then you get some survey emails and emails just to click for varying amounts. I just checked and you can get amazon vouchers from it. It's a lot slower than SB but less effort by far. .. there is also a nice referral system.
Kat: I think the way you're going through debt, you deserve to go travelling! Personally I think I would do half and half in your shoes, half savings into travelling pot and half into the deposit. But then I'm planning on saving for a deposit as soon as possible. I have a friend who has been saving for a deposit since she was 19!
My nanny just came in, this post is to be continued I guess. :rotfl:0
