I shall announce to no-one but myself.. I have had my payslip released and thank goodness I am up by 49p. This means on the 1st January the first £1000 will go to my savings pot... long may it last!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0

Hi Kat. Great news re the 49p. I think that's the start of something big! Will follow your savings thread to get some tips.
Thanks for the praise, but you get the gold stars for the inspiration. And I love having the 2000th post on your diary.
Hope you had a lovely day yesterday and are enjoying the time with your family. XMFIT -T5 #420 -
Hello diary lurkers....
In St Vincent and the Grenadines there was serious and unexpected flooding after very heavy rains on Christmas Eve. My best friends cousin was a nurse crossing a bridge when a flash flood swept her and the bridge away. She died yesterday on Christmas day. She is survived by her husband and their 1 year old son.
On Christmas Day my other best friend's Grandfather died. She has been let down by numerous family members throughout her life and this man was a vital part in her being so grounded. She also had to go to work that day as she works for the emergency services.
A little girl in the news wanted lots of people to sing Christmas Carols to her and last Saturday thousands descended on her house in the US and sang under her bedroom window. She died on Christmas Day after a long battle with cancer. She was 8 years old.
I sat at home, in a warm house with minimal gifts but plenty of food. Both parents together and alive with me, my brother who has been nick named Edgar due to his incessant need to hoover the room we are in and my lone surviving Grandparent...
I see many people on the Daily Snail are trampling over each other already for sales items, husbands are left in an untidy heap on the floor while wives and girlfriends rummage for "bargains" that will be forgotten by February...
I am grateful for what I have...... are you?“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -
Absolutely agree with you kat. Every time we have rain, snow, cold or windy weather here, I am so grateful for a home with a sound roof over my head, my family and minimal worries. I'm very impressed by what the Salvation Army do at this time of year - and throughout the year too. I already give to charity by dd, but am considering adding another one, to CAP.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

totally agree we thought we were losing my mum a few weeks ago. fortunately a correct diagnosis and some antibiotics and she's better than before! seeing my dad in despair at the time really upset me and has really made me refocus on what s important and it ain't stuff ! building lasting memories is what s important and they are not found in a pile of xmas presents.

Diary Lurkers / Readers / Supporters and Friends...
It is but once in my life that I want to bid farewell to a debt-busting diary! Never to be in this position again. Now at the very end of the year it's time to say a fond farewell! Most of all I need to thank the multitude of people who have read this thread (average of 273 views a day??) and encouraged, commented, thanked and stayed with me until the bitter end....I honestly could not have done this without you or had as much fun!
I must admit there has been some serious witterings, ramblings, plannings and schemings happen over the 14 months that this diary has been running and some are rather cringe-worthy...:rotfl:so thank you to anyone who has kept with me and read everything. To you especially I apologise for boring you - ha ha!
I have a new diary written and ready to be posted but am yet to think of an appropriate name. 2014 brings just as much determination but this time it will allow me to leave my job and see the world!
So good-bye to The Ultimate Challenge and a link will be posted to my new thread tomorrow when I post it to the DFW board because it's now a debt prevention / savings mission I am on and would love it if you continue this journey with me.....
Onwards and Upwards!!!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. I have to admit that I have been a long-term lurker.
Congratulations on all you have achieved, truly inspirational!
Good luck for 2014 and I look forward to reading the new thread0 -
Just a teeny weeny quick message as I'm rushing out for one final party of 2013, but I just wanted to say a massive thank you to my money twin
I've loved having you and your stories in my life since we bonded over tales of a bikini wax back at the end of last year and I can't wait to share the next part of your journey in 2014. You'll continue to be an inspiration to me and help me in my final debt busting hurdle.
I'm apparently turning into an old hippy declaring my love for the world! Excited for 2014
Have a fab night with your friend tonight and I can't wait to read (and partake in) your new diary xxx1 -
